If we can get a modal shift to 20 percent of pax arriving by public transport then that would be brilliant. MAN is on this figure ( with its motorway network and direct trains) so I know its ambitious but hopefully achievable. To reach this percentage though the council will need to agree at some stage to improved road transport to LBA.

What a load of nonsense. Obviously desperate for votes.

This suggestion would require a dedicated light rail system from Horsforth to the terminal meaning all passengers having to switch from a main line train to the light rail system at Horsforth, a station that is already unable to cope. That's no better than switching from the main line train to an electric bus at the parkway station! Horsforth also requires considerably more compulsory purchase schemes too with any number of homes, farms and even riding clubs between the station and airport. It's also around 3 times as far as the distance between the parkway station and terminal.

And where is the park and ride going? No space at Horsforth and it needs to be on the main line not on any light rail line. Building a separate park and ride at the proposed entrance to Bramhope Tunnel and a light rail from Horsforth to the terminal will increase costs, not decrease them. They need each other to be viable.

God help us if this lot win if this is their level.

Sadly I think when it comes to politics, politicians and candidates we have certainly now scarped the barrel, got through the wood, put some more wood on and gone through that. They lack any decent common sense and any local knowledge. To say he "lives" in the area his knowledge is worth sweet FA. Considering you've raised some very valid points.

I'll also add that the new housing estate going in by Cookridge; they propose to put a walk way to the new station. So a lot of Cookridge (well that at the bottom hill) will be connected to a rail station within a 10 minute walk. Cutting any car journeys. I mean that is a winner isn't it? Luckily I'm not voting for Yorkshire party I don't have any intention to. I've emailed Lib Dem but I'm not happy with this response that the terminal should go ahead but need to revisit the analysis after covid. And that we should have technology in place first before building a new terminal.

Absolute joke.

Having just read read the BBC article regarding budget funds from the government next week I am dismayed there are no funds been made available for any overground system in Leeds and West Yorkshire.

Manchester once again getting the lion’s share of the pot and we get money for more cycle lanes. How can Leeds and the larger region move more effectively and become carbon neutral without such a scheme. There might be other pots of money to come so I’ll bow to superior knowledge but to me only a handful of people benefit from the cycle lanes whereas millions would benefit from a tram system.

Some cities are getting upgrades to existing tram systems when we don’t have one at all.

ER should be campaigning more on this than stopping bloody traffic as if we had a system to use we wouldn’t need to use a car in the first place.

Yet again the poor relation. Brabin pull your figure out and do what you have been elected to do or don’t bother and leave it to someone else!!

According to The Northern Echo, West Yorkshire is getting £830m.

Just to put this levelling up sh*te in perspective. West Yorkshire, West Midlands, South Yorkshire and Nothwest combined, get less cash with this announcement than the cost of the London super sewer. So a pipe for crap down south is more important than people and connectivity up north. The cross rail alone is £19 billion and West Yorkshire couldn’t even get a supertram, trolley bus or any other integrated transport, other than bike lanes in one of the hilliest parts of the country- because most ordinary people are going to cycle for a weekly shop down t’asda....not. Honestly, the people governing us, think us northerners are stupid! Give us nothing like equality and make out they are doing us a favour. As for our Mayor, she likes to talk, but follows up with minimal actions - act for the region or jog on( preferably in silence).

I see some of this money is going towards more cycle lanes. Doesn’t this city have enough? On the plus side at least they are considering a Tram system (which they’ve been doing for years) my hope is that something might actually be done on this occasion rather than empty promises.

It would be nice if some of it could contribute to the airports nice new terminal. Just a thought

All the plans were done. No doubt they will all have to be done again. I remember in the late 70's setting up an exhibition at week ends in the Middleton area to show off them to the public.

Yes this time it's the government 'peddling' the new empty promise of transport money for our region.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
