So the Council will control the red route on the Harrogate Road and Whitehouse Lane and LBA control the airport access road.

Yep, but as I said before, I don't know if LBA are doing this themselves or contracting it to another company. I would think the latter. So the Council will control the red route on the Harrogate Road and Whitehouse Lane and LBA control the airport access road.
I suspect also that they are doing this ahead if the commencement of construction works on the terminal extension. Imagine the chaos if construction traffic is trying to access the site via the airport access road but it's blocked with people dropping off, although why you would is beyond me, as it's a one way road and no way out anyway without paying a parking fee!Yep, but as I said before, I don't know if LBA are doing this themselves or contracting it to another company. I would think the latter.
Negative coverage or not, a red route is a red route and if drivers are not familiar with the highway rules then they shouldn't be driving.Given current negative coverage now is not the best time to announce something like this.
I agree but theres such a thing as timing. The airport just seem to plough on regardless.Negative coverage or not, a red route is a red route and if drivers are not familiar with the highway rules then they shouldn't be driving.
I agree, its not about their introduction/enforcement its about the timing and public relations.Double yellow and red lines are there for a reason, the highway code explains all!!
There's never a good time for something like this, as the airport will always be criticised and accused of profiteering by the ignorant who seem to think that the rules of the Rules of the Road dont apply to them. The airport are clearly introducing the rules ahead of the peak summer season so it could be argued they are introducing them at exactly the right time.I agree, its not about their introduction/enforcement its about the timing and public relations.
You also have to act if the CAA are not happy. You cannot just tell them that you'll comply later when other issues are better.Youve got to be able to get on with your neighbours and customers. The airport just seem to plough on irrespective.
Are you implying that those who break the highway code should be appeased in the name of customer relations while those that don't break the rules have to pay for parking?Youve got to be able to get on with your neighbours and customers. The airport just seem to plough on irrespective.
If LBA followed that line, nothing would ever get done, because there's never a time when there isn't some negativity. Our gutter press see to that. This is what I posted:
" its not about their introduction/enforcement its about the timing and public relations"
I think that makes my stance on law and order very clear.
I could have added"a final sentence "assuming of course they have a choice in its introduction and it hasnt been mandated e.g by the CAA."
I know opinions differ on this but mine is just that the airport could do better on the PR front. If LBA followed that line, nothing would ever get done, because there's never a time when there isn't some negativity. Our gutter press see to that.
You are also assuming that the public will object. Some may - almost certainly those that don't comply and who have brought about this change by parking stupidly and causing obstructions. But many more won't care a bit, because it doesn't affect them - probably because they DO comply with the rules anyway. There are far bigger issues to worry about than changing yellow double lines to red.
Must be making a fortune for the Council. They must love the CAA for insisting on this and are probably wondering why they didn't think of it years ago.Further regards the Red routes around the airport. This message was posted on Facebook earlier.

They probably think they’re there for decorative purposes to brighten up their day!Must be making a fortune for the Council. They must love the CAA for insisting on this and are probably wondering why they didn't think of it years ago.
It's incredible that so many drivers obviously haven't a clue what double red lines mean - or if they do they think they will get away with it. Mistake. BIG mistake!!
