Looks like the tram system which was never going to LBA is never going anywhere, anytime soon judging by the press release sneaked out at midnight.

Oh I love Liebour.

More importantly I don't think we needed a link between Leeds and Bradford if I'm honest given the frequent train opportunities, the frequent bus services (which need increasing - build it and they shall come). It didn't serve the areas where it would have generated much better growth (North West Leeds, North East Leeds). It needed first and foremost to serve Leeds and be Leeds' tram.

No tram system, a half finished white rose station, massive cost overruns on road improvements, no sign of the LBA Parkway station…WYCA are doing a fine job…
And now to top it all this morning we have the failed actress Mayor blaming everyone else and stealing LBAs CEOs words about saying how hard it is to deliver infrastructure projects in the UK…..
Take some ownership Brabin, get your team sorted out and finish the White Rose and get the LBA parkway delivered - you’ve now been given the cash and powers to deliver these and more - only one to blame is yourself!
So where is the money going? More sh*ty cycle lanes nobody uses? Bottle necking the city making it impossible to drive ? No parking in th city? Nice one Tracey. Whilst CDC can cough up all this ££ for a dead airport. Make it make sense. What a joke

When you look at a map of Leeds particularly the North West - North East the Leeds Harrogate line heads off in an 11 o clock direction and there isnt another train line out of Leeds until the Crossgates Line at 3 o clock, just shows you the lack of decent transport links into Leeds from this area. Then they wonder why the roads are clogged with cars!!!

Funny how quickly (in comparison ) Sheffield, Manchester, Nottingham, Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Edinburgh and even Croydon got tram networks isn't it? Without having 3 goes at it over a period of 25 years.

Breadbin has bitten off more than she can chew with this. Leeds has failed twice to get a mass transit system but her answer is a system covering the whole of West Yorkshire that cost-wise would be certain to dwarf costs of a Leeds only system, which what was originally intended and certainly needed most . Another link to Bradford in addition to numerous buses and trains wasn't what's needed. Leeds, for the most part, still wont have any mass transit that will improve the daily commute. The nearest tram line to me in Cookridge will be 6 miles away. Commuting from here thriugh the Headingley corridor will still be a nightmare.

They should focus on Leeds first and IF that happens then expand outwards. I don't believe for one minute that this will happen at all and certainly not in my lifetime. If it takes 10 years to get nowhere with a parkway station in the middle of open countryside what chance this happening with potentially hundreds of CPOs needed along the routes before they can even start building it?

It will be interesting to see whether bus franchising in West Yorkshire affects services to the airport. LBA appears to be in the Leeds 1 tranche which means franchised services could start in March 2027.

Now wouldn't that be nice? A high-speed train from any major city in the north to the new northern aviation hub of LBA in order to catch the well-known Emirates departure, or maybe a BA connection to London?

Or, in another more familiar universe, the reduced travel times would lose us our frequent departures to Dublin and Belfast and we'd get nothing in return

There's also the universe where pigs fly...

After the debacle of HS2 I doubt any Government would touch it with a bargepole nor would the private sector given their unwillingness to invest in HS2. Perhaps the Chinese could fund and build it in which case it will be ready by this time next year!

This statement.was included today in a series of announcements by the West Yorks Combined Authority.

Leeds
A commitment to a new Leeds Bradford Airport Parkway Train Station will serve the airport, making way for smoother transport for travellers, and for those commuting to work. This will further support Leeds Bradford Airport’s Vision 2030, backed by £200 million in private investment, to improve passenger experience as the airport reaches an anticipated seven million passengers a year by 2030 and the creation of up to 5,500 new jobs.

Maybe the recent meeting between AENA, Vince Hodder and our esteemed WY Mayor actually achieved something?

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
