Driving daily through the airport I have noticed an issue with the new build. The new coach interchange was built on top of the existing short-term car park. The airport still retained large parts of the ST car park but all the work required a lot of soil to be loaded on the site. A fence was erected around the car park next to Downside road. The car park edge was filled with new soil. Now the entire area is covered in Horsetail weed. It's a huge nuisance and will spread like fire throughout the car park. Private housing on the Downside road will get the brunt of it too. This could potentially be a big issue as horsetail weed is destructive and practically impossible to eradicate. I wonder how this situation will develop.

Just read the RHS advise on this and it doesn't seem anywhere near as vigorous as Japanese Knotweed and it isn't an invasive species so hopefully it won't become a major problem.

The transport interchange will open to the public on Wed 16th July.

All public buses will start and terminate at the interchange. Passengers can walk from the interchange to airport forecourt via a glass bridge. Silverzone bus passengers will also start and end their journey from Silverzone car park at the interchange. Staff buses won't use the interchange.

Currently the only shop at the waiting area will be a M&S.

The existing coach station will be dismantled and used for parking and road improvements.

Yes all taxi pickups will be from the interchange. Car rental bus pick up too.

No ticket machines at the interchange for public buses. Buy tickets online or in the bus from driver.

Terminal extension into the current Drop and Go. New parking stands but where is the space? Then subject to planning, 150 m runway extension and possibly few airbridges. But that is well into the future (4-10 years?)

The new Public Transport Interchange is opening next Wednesday.

This will save the trek up and down the ramps with your luggage to and from the current Bus Park for the A3.

Used the new interchange today and it’s very impressive. Great signage, very spacious, no more lugging cases up zigzag walkways and steps. Really easy to use the drop and go. If all the money collected from drop and go over the years has gone towards creating the new interchange then it’s money well spent

The consultation is now live. Quite interesting to read through with several changes since the master plan:

• Planning application delayed to early next year
• Additional 90m of tarmac beyond the threshold and extension "overrun zone"?
• Fields between the A38 and the common being offered as replacement common land- sounds like spotters will be able to get even closer to the runway!

The airport also has quite an optimistic timeline, stating they want to complete the extension in the late 2020's! when the runway is due for resurfacing
