Many thanks Ray. Is that fence barrier all there is separating from the railway line? Perhaps its higher than it looks.

It's a full sized fence with barbed wire, I'd say about 10 foot or so. I was stood on top of the bridge so it probably makes the fence look smaller than it actually is :smile:

It's a great spot to sit and watch but the fence makes photography difficult.

The new air bridge is due to be delivered some time this week, no info as to which day yet :smile:

Its really great to see money pumped into BHX on these projects, it can only bring benefits to the airport and the more passengers who use the airport, more and more of this investment will come. Id really like them to spend some cash on putting in one of those "moving" walkways the whole length of the international pier, that would be epic. When I went to Dublin Airport for the day and got off at the Ryanair terminal, you have to walk miles from the end of the pier to the main terminal part or walk on these "moving" walkways. I think they have them at Palma De Mallorca too.

It may be something or it may be nothing.
Having been on annual leave for a couple of weeks I thought I would have a look at the works going on at gate 54.Looking good!!!
Anyway the most noticeable thing going on along the international pier was gate 43 is surrounded by hoardings.
As this gate is on the left side as you walk towards the gates,54 is on the right,does this mean that this gate is also getting an upgrade.Possibly for use as the Qatar gate???
Anyone heard anything??

Interesting.

If memory serves this stand only has a single air bridge at the moment, maybe they will make it double in case Qatar ever upgrade to a 777 whilst we have Emirates and PIA also in?

The only other thing I could think of is if an A380 fuelling system is passing through this stand to 54C and they need to dig to install it?

There are a couple of gates on the right side of the international pier,including the EK gate have enclosed seating/waiting area.
None of the other gates have,so I am thinking maybe something like that could be the plan.
Obviously the Qatar flight could also park up where the AI parks.Unless there is a very long delay then one wouldn't interfere with the other.
I will ask if anyone knows what the story is,but I am sure you have all heard the phrase,getting blood from a stone.This is very often the case.Getting info from within the airport itself is difficult to say the least.
In fact I get more news from 'Forums for airports',than I do from the airport itself!!!
