Well its a start, As I see flybmi have now put on sale 1 stop onward connections from Leeds/Bradford to Milan Bergamo, Narrkoping, Laage & Saarbruecken all via its newly announce Munich route which commences from April.

I've just checked some random dates in June and I would seem already that some flights are showing a good loads with around 50-60% seats booked. Hopefully the Lufthansa codeshare agreement will come into effect soon, as am sure it will fill even more seats.
That’s great if it is that full already usually most business passengers don’t book until weeks before the trip. Maybe twice daily will come into action if the route carries success.

Sad news coming out... It’s looking very likely Flybmi are to close down all operations in the coming hours.

Very sad if true.

Unbelievable. LBA spend ages trying to get a new route into Germany, finally succeed, with a promise of more to come and even an LBA hub in the future and then the airline in administration before we even get a flight off the ground? The website confirms all flights cancelled, so it does look like we have seen the last of the Bmi Embraers at LBA. Along with the usual trading problems, the press release states the following: Current trading and future prospects have also been seriously affected by the uncertainty created by the Brexit process, which has led to our inability to secure valuable flying contracts in Europe and lack of confidence around bmi’s ability to continue flying between destinations in Europe.

Well, it will impact on some other airports much more than LBA, but even so, very disappointing for LBA management to lose the Munich link, along with potential Lufthansa code share to worldwide destinations, less than 2 months before the service commences. It was only last week that the LBA CEO was doing publicity stuff with the BMi boss!

And annoyingly a billboard advert has just gone up by the airport flyover advertising Fly BMI to Munich.

The airline industry changed forever when the locos got a foothold. Airports like LBA, and we are not alone, need niche carriers to support the business routes. The problem is the locos shift high volumes in the main at fairly low prices. Flying expensive 37 and 49 seat jets means the fares reflect that. So it then comes down to the few who still want the convenience and supposedly the better level of service. Locos opened up flying to the masses which is great if you are talking pax numbers. Rising fuel costs, Brexit uncertaintity will have contributed. It's a shame as ever for the staff involved and I hate to say this yet again, but there will still be more to come. Is this a focus by bmi's owners to now expand LM or is there going to be an impact there too? Aircraft have been transferred recently so suspect they have known this was coming for some time. Does anyone else feel the whole UK airline industry is in a very "surreal" stare just now?

I think one factor as well is that the big airports are a lot more easier to get to now. My sister lives 5 minutes away from LBA and rarely uses it for work, her main airports are MAN and LHR which she either accesses by train or drives. She's also used Newcastle and London city. Even a route like Dublin she mainly uses MAN. Most of her flying from LBA is for leisure.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
