A 3xdaily EasyJet 319 would, I think be very acceptable. Lets hope so.

I'ld be happy with just 2x daily A319 Belfast Int'l to Leeds to start with, Rather see easyjet gradually build up there presence here one route at a time like they are doing down in Birmigham.

Yep --I quite agree. 5 daily Flybe DH8 if reasonably full should equal 3 x A319 of Easy Jet so it might come to that, well maybe! I also think that there are a number of routes that EasyJet could make a success of out of Leeds. One being Madrid. I thought Madrid would come before Lisbon -but no. CPH is another potential...…….

Papers are being savage about this given that it was 10 days after a £174 million dividend payout. Sometimes I wonder if Executives have any sense, despite the eye watering attraction of the dividends, on their brand going forward.....wouldnt the decent thing have been to use this dividend to pay staff? They are spoiling it for other airlines who are genuinely struggling and companies who genuinely need help.

The government said they would offer the retention scheme to large and small businesses. If all UK airlines are doing the same as Easyjet is they will be in a better place to recover following the pandemic.

£60 million alone went to Stelios....Would be nice if he used it to support the staff rather than waste it on yet another failure

I think the problem for Easyjet may have that if they hadn't paid out the dividends then it would have been potentially an admittance to the markets that the company may not have been healthy.

Yes but they could have chosen to plough the dividends back into the company, like other execs are doing at other companies.

My sentiments too.

At the same time as ensuring that wealthy shareholders get their legal due, the company is distinctly reticent when it comes to returning cash to customers who have had flights cancelled, as I've been describing in the BRS easyJet thread from personal experience. There is also much discussion across the internet about the way that easyJet is dealing with refunds (or more accurately not dealing), with one website organising a petition, not that I'm a fan of petitions.

Stelios believes that the threat to easyJet is not from his £60 million dividend payout but from the airline's commitment to expanding the fleet. He is quoted as saying, “By far and away the largest threat to the airline’s future viability is the £1.35 billion capital expenditure payment to Airbus in the current 2020 financial year, with another £1 billion per year for each of the next three years,”

He believes that the fleet should be reduced by nearly a third to around 250 aircraft.

The whole situation with easyJet seems very poorly managed they don't seem like they are wanting to be fair with anyone. I f I was Airbus I would say go get your planes off Boeing from now then.

Can only speak from my own experience but I received a refund form Easyjet straight away with no issues.
Should this discussion really be in the airlines forum for Easyjet ?

Stelios has had a gripe with the Board ever since he sold his majority shareholding and he didn't/doesn't like the way the Company has been/is heading ever since. He has been a very vocal critic too. Knowing easyJet from their start at Luton I can see where he is coming from in many respects but now as he is just a shareholder, rather than being the owner, he should really keep quiet and let the Board sink or swim on their own. However, as a shareholder who draws a dividend each year, he has a material interest in how they are doing. He doesn't do himself any favours though with his constant very public carping. By the way I reckon he is as entitled as any other shareholder to his annual divi.

And yes I agree with Carl0927 and Jason 1-11 that posts #290 onwards really should be in the easyJet Airlines forum.

And what can they supply them the 737 MAX
That's my point, if they want to play hardball with Airbus see when they can get some 737 aircraft soon they won't. They'd soon change their tune towards Airbus if things settled down quickly and they did want what aircraft they've got on order they want it all ways and Stelios seems to be trying to out do MOL for throwing his toys out the window at present.

Could be interesting - easyJet including a twice-daily BFS-LBA Airbus A320 service in their slot applications for this winter:

EZY281 departs BFS 07:30 Mon-Sat
EZY282 arrives BFS 10:20 Mon-Sat
EZY283 departs BFS 18:30 Mon-Fri & Sun
EZY284 arrives BFS 21:20 Mon-Fri & Sun

Wonder if it might actually happen?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
