What an evening we are having at LBA today. Not content with the formation flying 2x RAF Tornado GR4's and the brand new Flybe ATR72, G-FBXA we now have and Eastern Airways Saab 2000, G-CFLU inbound from Norwich using callsign "EZE78H"

Channex 44 Bravo LS717 Edinburgh to Palma diverted to LBA & currently circling overhead, burning fuel at 16000 ft. Has been for last half hour or so...

It's making a pretty Spirograph type image on Flight Radar 24. :D Not sure what the issue is.

Heard on company freq it'll be a normal landing & another plane is being refuelled for crew & passengers to continue onward journey.

Nice Military Visitor this afternoon RAF C130J Hercules ZH878 using callsign "Ascot126", He was due to do a missed approach and go-around but didn't land as declared a maintenance problem and had to return to RAF Brize Norton.

I was up at Menwith Hill Vulcan spotting when I heard that call. Asked if he was declaring an emergency. Replied negative... Another notch for RAF Yeadon!

If you not watching the Super League final just a heads up that the brand new flybe ATR72, G-FBXA which is in full SAS livery is due back into LBA on another training flight this evening at around the same time of the last visit.

A few Titan aircraft using Aer Lingus call signs flew into Cardiff over the weekend. That was in connection with the Rugby World Cup though, and I think all were additional flights. As far as I am aware this is the first time one has been used on a scheduled Aer Lingus service.

I think they might be leased for the purpose of providing additional flights for the duration of the World Cup :s_dunno

It may also be the reason why EIR/Stobart is short of ATRs. A lot are being used at CWL today for the rugby (Ireland v France).

Heads up: Flybe's newest ATY72, G-FBXB which is painted in SAS livery is due into Leeds-Bradford this afternoon as BEE537T on a training sortie from Birmingham at 14:10. Its then due out at 14:35 as BEE538T back to Birmingham

little bit later than planned but the above mentioned SAS livered aircraft is just been vectored around by ATC for an final approach onto LBA's runway 32.

bmi regional Embrear 145, G-RJXD arrived into Leeds about half 3 this afternoon as BMR8208 from London Gatwick operating a charter flight for Brighton & Hove Albion F.C whom are playing Leeds Utd tomorrow at Elland Road.

Both of Flybe's new ATR72's, G-FBXA & G-FBXB which are both in SAS livery have done 2 training flights into LBA this afternoon as follows.

G-FBXA - BEE517T/BEE518T = SEN-LBA-BHX & BEE519T/BEE520T = BHX-LBA-SOU
G-FBXB - BEE527T/BEE528T = BHX-LBA-BHX & BEE529T/BEE530T = BHX-LBA-SOU

I wonder why, all of a sudden, Flybe are using LBA for training and for the ATR72s in particular? LBA has previously actively discouraged training flights here. Seems strange really as nobody else does it here (apart from the RAF occasionally). Strange too that it comes hot on the heels of the rumours regarding a Flybe base at LBA.

I'm curious as to why Flybe are now obtaining ATR72s, given they already operate a similar type in the Dash 8. I thought the plan was to reduce the fleet to just two types as quickly as possible, i.e. the Dash and the Embraer 175. I must be out of touch.

I suppose the ATR does provide a degree of commonality with Flybe's 'associate', Stobart. Speaking of which, it is a peculiar situation when a Flybe-coloured Stobart-operated ATR turns up operating an Aer Lingus flight  .

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
