Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

That explains an unusually noisy take off earlier this afternoon which was clearly audible where I work at Lawnswood. As soon as I heard it I thought it was something we don't see too often now. Since I love noisy aircraft, all I can say is welcome back to the MD81 and it would be nice to see some more back at LBA soon. I, for one, really miss seeing the Spanair MD's every weekend!

Agree, watching the Spanair aircraft climb out like a rocket was great fun. Those were the days

Did anybody manage any photos of today's specimen?

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

I forgot to post as well, that I did spot an RAF jet yesterday perfoming a low pass-over either yesterday or the Monday between 10 and 11am.
I'm not very fluent with my Military jets but it was going at some speed and did make a huge racket!

Just to let you know as well Jet2's G-CGET departed LBA at around 1545pm this afternoon (20th) heading up towards NEW. I'm currently following her as EXS039E. It looks as though she was heading towards Scandanavia at 17,000ft but has just turned back towards NEW. Probably performing final checks before being handed over to her leaser.

Many apologies Lbaspotter, I hadn't read the posts on the other topics. :reallyshocked:

I believe that Thomas Cook have been swapped their based A320's. Long-time based G-SUEW swapped with G-CRPH down-route in Bodrum on Saturday 16th. They have again swapped now LBA based G-CRPH with Manchester based A320 G-KKAZ. G-KKAZ operated this mornings (19th-July) service to Palma. I do believe G-CRPH and MAN based G-KKAZ swapped last night in Dalaman.

Please correct if i'm wrong.

Regards,
Tom.

Hi Tom

The based Thomas Cook, Airbus A320 has been change twice this last week. G-SUEW was swapped with G-CRPH on Saturday's Palma rotation. Then G-CRPH was swapped on Monday's overnight trip to Dalaman with G-KKAZ.

Hope that helps.

Thanks a lot Lbaspotter. Let's hope they don't do more swaps within a short period of time. It does get confusing at times.

It was Air Contractors, EI-JIV hercules that you most likely saw. She arrived LBA at about 22:00 last night and night stopped at Multiflight. She departed at 12:25. It looks to be in connection with Horses again as there is a Race meeting at York today.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

The Hercules is taking a new £4 million engine down to Palma for G-GDFC which suffered an engine failure on take off last Thursday.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Also seen about 90mins ago at Tingley, Lancaster heading westbound following M62

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Yes LS27, that would be the last flying Lancaster, or so I was told, heading for Bingley Show. I saw it from the top area of Baildon whilst playing cricket, made some beautiful sounds and a great sight to see.

Shame it didn't make a stop at LBA (if it can even land at LBA), but was only around for a brief moment, 5 minutes at the most.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Just seen this on Flightradar24 operating a Jet2 flight from Paris, and just had time to get the camera out.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

The Lancaster could almost land on your cricket pitch Tom.
700 Lancasters and 4,700 AVRO Ansons were built in Yeadon.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Nice picture masere! As I posted on the Delays thread, it should be operating the delayed AGP 275 service.

Nice figures there wawkrk, apparently it was heading back to DSA after the flypast at the Bingley show. Only caught a few quick glimpses, but definitely heard it for about 5mins or so.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

It is always a disappointment to me how infrequently the Lancaster does actually fly over LBA, or even fly into LBA, considering they were built at the airport. If this one was flying back from the Bingley show, then surely it would be possible for it to do a low fly past over LBA on the way back - it would barely be a detour. Even with incoming arrivals, I would have thought it possible without too much difficulty.

Today there was a Spitfire over LBA at 1354, which then headed over Cookridge area and continued South East.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Hi White Heather,

The Lancaster flew from the Bingley Show up to Lake Windermere and then down to Southport for some displays. Got this info from the RAF MOD site in the BBMF section, that lists everything that the BBMF are doing this year with times and locations.

It flew right over my house when it was doing its display for the Bingley Show, I heard it before I could see it, it was magnificent to see it so close, the shadow passed over the road it was that low, it did about three large circuits and then went thundering up the Aire Valley towards the Lakes, the callsign was BB1.

It is a shame we don't get to see it more round here, there used to be a person who lived at Nab Wood inbetween Bingley and Shipley who had something to do with the Spitfire and every year it used to do a 10 minute display over this person house on an evening, another great spectacle to see.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

[offtopic]Following the previous posts about Spitfires and shows, I'll take this opportunity to remind anyone who doesn't know but may be interested that it is the Sunderland Air Show this weekend. It takes place on the beach (or above it!) and is FREE. The schedule is the same for both days. I went last year, my first ever visit to an airshow, and it was terrific. I have family in Hartlepool so combine seeing them and the show, plus it saves a hotel! Info can be found here....[/offtopic]

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
