Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

I hear and according to a post on the airports Facebook page that the RAF's, BBMF Lancaster Bomber could be making an appearance at LBA on Thursday, October 20th.

She will be operating in the area and is due to be doing a flypast over York Mister at around 12 noon.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Well I got off the bus at Yeadon at 12.30, popped into Morrison's then headed to the cemetery, only to be told by someone I'd missed two F-16's      If LBA had let us know in advance.......

I saw the small aircraft flypast but was too late in getting camcorder out. I was ready for the Tornado, footage below, and managed to get two shots of the VC10, also below, along with two that were parked at Multiflight. I left just after 4 when it started raining.

Oh yeah and it was @*&£$%@ freezing up there!

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Tie ups for today's visiting aircraft doing flypasts at Leeds Bradford Airport. Or should I call it "RAF Yeadon Aerodrome"

RBAF F16 = FA-82 ("Belgian Air Force 501") - From RAF Mildenhall to Kleine-Brogel
RBAF F16 = FA-110 ("Belgian Air Force 501") - From RAF Mildenhall to Kleine-Brogel
RAF Tucano = ZF2?? ("Tucano1") - From/To RAF Linton on Ouse
RAF Tornado GR4 = ZA551 ("Marham52") - From/To RAF Marham
RAF VC-10 = ZA148 ("Tartan11") - From RAF Brize Norton
RAF C17 = Cancelled

Dose anyone know the reg of Tucano which did 1 flypast?

Hope that helps.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Great pictures and video masere, thank you for sharing them. I managed to see the F16s before starting work they put on a really good show and it was the highlight for me. It;s a shame you missed them. I was stuck indoors when the VC10 came and that was the one I really wanted to see because I remember seeing them at Leeds in the early 90's on troop missions.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Was there a fly past at around 0830hrs this morning. I was heading into Guiseley at the time and saw a small, what looked to be RAF aircraft heading from Rwy32 over towards Ilkley.

Sorry, I'm not clued up on my Military Aircraft. It could have been a small private jet for all I know... :dunno:

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Can't believe I missed this! So GUTTED. I was in Bergamo, flew with Jet2 on Saturday out and Monday back. Near full loads both ways, and both flights arrived early despite taking off slightly late. A good all around experience.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

The Lancaster Bomber flypast at LBA for tomorrow has Just been confirmed by the airport on there facebook page.

Leeds Bradford Airport
Continuing our 80th bday celebrations.. . We've saved the best till last! A Lancaster Bomber will fly over the airport at approx 1245hrs tomorrow! Enjoy!!

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Absolutely typical!! I have to go to London once a year and on the day I do, the Lancaster puts in an appearance at LBA, round about the time I will be somewhere near Doncaster. Nice for the airport celebrations but what a disappointment, especially after missing the F16's, and Tornado due to being stuck in a meeting in Leeds all day! At least I saw the VC10 climbing out over Horsforth late on Monday afternoon.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Its a shame airlines couldn't have put in some sort of display.

Jet2 had a NCL airport sticker for their birthday, but not at their home base.

Also, Im sure it wouldn't have troubled KLM too much to put the retro B737-800 into LBA. They did for NCL and BHX's birthdays, and its not as if its 'too big' for LBA.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

I will miss it as well as I fly out of the airport early in the morning.

User001, I actually remember a member on here, possibly White Heather, informing us that LBA is KLM Cityhopper's largest crew base, so you would've thought that they would. You never know, it may turn up next week when it becomes available as we have just seen the Lancaster Bomber is only just making an appearance tomorrow.

It is a shame about Jet2 but I suppose they have a lot of live-up for at NCL and also at other airports as I suppose in some ways they have to prove themselves more at other airports due to the fact that, that airport isn't their HQ! They may think that because LBA is their HQ, they don't owe anything to the airport..... :dunno:

Think they do though with LBA they wouldn't be where they are now, well they could have been but wouldn't have such a large customer base in yorkshire.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Jet2 are the biggest operator out of LBA by far. They also already have 2 aircraft associated with the area. The first been Boeing 737-300, G-CELS named Leeds/Bradford while Boeing 737-300, G-CELB has also got Billboard Yorkshire Titles.

Surely don't you think that's enough?

Yeah but they could have done something to celebrate the airports 80th.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Just seen the Lancaster flypast on the Multiflight webcam, it was very low and banking, heading westwards, then came back. RAF Typhoon flying over Leeds as I speak!!!

Typhoon did 3 circuits all I can say is wow

Unfortunately I missed them both today as I'd been sent on an errand. I did manage to hear the Typhoon buzz Leeds city centre at lunchtime which cause a bit of a stir with people looking up to see what it was.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

What a sight. I actually managed to get sometime away so went up to LBA this lunchtime and was stood over on the plane tree hill to watch the stunning displays of the BBMF Lancaster-Bomber and RAF Euro Fighter.

I took the Airband radio but forgot the Camera. Did anyone on here manage to get any pictures of this afternoons displays?

There seemed to plenty of spotters on the Plane Tree Hill and over towards the cemetery. It looked like quite a few airport staff also got a glimpse as they were plenty of them stood on the apron outside the terminal building. I also noticed the Ryanair crew were standing beside there aircraft on stand 10ish watching the Lancaster flypasts.

The inbound Thomson, Boeing 757-200, G-OOBD operating the TOM8KW from Palma was slowed down on its approach/vectors, So that the Euro Fighter could do its display.

Lbaspotter

Shhh!!!!! Don't tell Thomson's, they don't like LBA as it is remember.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
