Its hard to believe we had no ski flights at all 10 or so years ago. Lets hope Inghams make a success of Innsbruck and add to our portfolio.

I don't know if anyone saw it but what looked like an RAF Avro RJ85 visited LBA this morning It passed low over Cookridge heading South at 0955 and then made a missed approach (a very early missed approach, well before it reached the runway) at 1000. I don't think it came back again - certainly didn't hear it.

It was bae146 ZH700 from 32 the royal squadron. Doing a procedural NDB approach before continuing to the Isle of Man :)

She actually did 2 approaches yesterday morning. Meanwhile we also had RAF, C130 Hercules ZH870 do an ILS run yesterday evening with callsign "Ascot 670"

After the approach I saw, it didn't come back as I stood for ages watching to see if it did. And when I saw it fly over Cookridge it was not in a circuit - it was travelling fast and descending ready for an approach, so I am surprised if it did more than one missed approach.

the Hercules did 2 approaches. the 2nd was an ndb not sure about first.

If that is the case then it did a very odd circuit in between missed approaches, because at 0955 it was flying directly over Cookridge at high speed, descending down toward the South West - in fact it appeared to heading for Manchester, such was its speed and direction. It was nowhere near the usual 'downwind circuit'. It must have done a figure of 8, turning right after the 32 missed approach, climbing quite high and then crossing the centre line again heading back to the SW, before turning back on to the 32 approach. If it had already done a missed approach, then its speed was surprising, as it was travelling at a fair rate as it passed over me. According to my times though the 2nd approach was 1000 and it didn't come back before 1020 when I gave up watching.

All a bit of a mystery then.

What lbaspotter probably saw was the aircraft go beacon outbound and track southbound before doing the ndb approach.

He definately only did one approach:) hope that helps:)

British Airways have just sent up Airbus A320, G-MIDO again on this evenings SHT1344/1345 service. Hopefully its because it's carrying extra passengers due to todays problems with East Coast mainline trains.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
