On way back from North East this aft,about 2 -2.30 notice a twin small prop doing orbits to the left of 32 approach, about 1/2 to 1 mile out, was this CAA checker?

Probably not - light aircraft do circuits in that area whilst waiting for clearance to join the approach to 32. I watched a small twin do the same thing earlier in the week whilst waiting for a succession of commercial aircraft to land.

Seemed a bit close to 32 centre line from where I was, travelling up Ring Road from Woodside, near Maggies pitch it appeared to be over the Town St area!

Hi

I can comfirm that this afternoons, Thomson, TOM43D/70J Palma-Majorca service was upgraded from Boeing 757 and was operated by Boeing 767-300 G-OBYF.

Also of intrest to some members yesterday tea time saw an NPT264 arrive from Dublin which was operated by Atlantic Airlines Boeing 737-300F, G-JMCL. She night stopped at Multiflight. She then departed earlier this morning as NPT265A back to Dublin.

this isn't relay relevant but i was in palma on Tuesday and that same plane was doing PMI-MAN and it was only half full, maybe they moved it to Leeds to see if they can fill it ?

I was lucky enough to see the A380 from my work desk the other day (who needs to waste £25 on a train ticket to freeze on car park level 13 at Manchester!!). Looked great turning around over to the West.

I remember when we had a based 767-200 from Thomson at LBA for the beginning of the summer season due to demand. How times have changed and what a mistake it was of Thomson to set-up at Doncaster and not expand at LBA. Lets hope these latest rumours of Thomson expanding at LBA are true. Lots of potential for Thomson at LBA surely.

I remember the 767-200 that Britannia had based here between May and early July for a couple of summers. I could never understand why we had more capacity outside the school term and then when the kids broke up and more families wanted to take their holidays, it went back to a 757 - presumably to provide more capacity at Manchester.

Around the same time we used to have an Air Luxor A330 operating a charter, which was nice to see.

It is a real shame how IT has gone down the pan at LBA. Thank goodness for Thomas Cook, but I would like to see them base at least a 757 at LBA and possibly something bigger than that in the not too distant future.

I know that the original plan about three years ago with Thomas Cook was to have a second A320 based at LBA along with the current unit but things have changed with the help of Jet 2 as Thomas Cook are able to sell seats on some of their flights. I think the best we can now hope for in a couple of years time from Thomas Cook are more seats sold on Jet 2 flights, either a based A321 or 757 and some W patterns from other airports.
