April First Visitors

The first seven days of the month have been busy with first visits from our regular airlines.

Last night (07th) Jet2 let us view B737-800 G-JZHT which arrived on EXS22M from Tenerife South. This aircraft was delivered to Manchester over fourteen months ago and is the last of the new builds to grace our concrete/tarmac.

KLM sent two of their latest Embraer 190s on the same day (06th) with PH-EXV on the mid morning KLM1541/1542 and PH-EXY on the night stopping KLM31F/78E.

Ryanair were plentiful with new B737-800s. EI-GDB RYR36QF/2332 Kraków (01st), EI-GJA RYR2324/214D Gerona and EI-GDH RYR76SX/7N Dublin (02nd), EI-GJI RYR76SX/7N Dublin (03rd), EI-GDR RYR99E/62YV Dublin/Palma (04th), and EI-GJJ RYR76SX/7N Dublin (06th).

Phew!

Barnsley Holidays

Global Express 9H-VJT(Vista Jet 971) being vectored on to ILS, runway 32(1455)
RVR currently 750 metres

Overshot 1502, request divert to Manchester

Twevsmiff, it's only a technicality I know but it wasn't an overshoot, which is when an aircraft lands and fails to stop on the runway, it was a go-around, which is when it makes and approach but climbs back out and doesn't land - the usual situation in foggy conditions.

Afternoon White Heather, thank you for you comment. From Collins Dictionary-
verb:-
If you overshoot a place that you want to get to, you go past it by mistake.
The plane apparently overshot the runway after landing. [VERB noun]

verb transitive:-
Word forms: ˌoverˈshot or ˌoverˈshooting
to shoot or pass over or beyond (a target, mark, etc.); specif., to fly an aircraft beyond (a runway, landing field, etc.) while trying to land

Note overshot(verb transitive) - To FLY an aircraft beyond a runway/landing field, while trying to land.

I know the pilots now say "go around" but in the good old days(when I were a lad) they reported overshooting.

Falcon 8X F-WWQA just entering the hold to carry out 2 ILS approaches(CAT 2) and go-arounds :)

Just a heads up - The Falcon 8X has now completed his two approahes here and heading to Tesside for two more approaches.
He is then due back here in around one hour to make two more approaches here, depending on traffic due to the weather.

Hawk, call-sign "Pirate 06" just establishing on ILS, for go around and route towards Scampton
Serial anyone ??

Unusual for Saturday

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
