Hi Ianbutty, i do hold a Flyingblue card as i travel often with KLM and have now emailed them direct and have received an acknowledgement.

It is an interesting and important point and i will, in due course, explain what happens. For me, the important point is that my Eticket identifies me as flying on FR5019 Birmingham - Paris Charles de Gaulle. For me that surely indicates some responsibility for my passage.

Thanks for your comments.

H Ianbutty, a further update on my flight dilemma.

After emailing Flyingblue at about 1415, i have now received confirmation from KLM (1425) that my ticket to Rio de Janeiro has been amended and therefore i will now leave BHX on Monday, March 16, on KL1420 for Amsterdam and will then transit onto KL0705 for Rio at 10.45.

To say i am impressed with the way KLM have handled my problem, which must be one of hundreds they must be receiving today, is an underestatement. Their response has been swift, efficient and has solved my problem.

I will write and congratulate them.

Maybe if there are others who face similar problems, my advice is to act quickly, politely and decisively.

Well done KLM

I do wonder what other expenses Flybe didn’t help themselves out with, obviously their top tiers of management would love to push it as the APD, brexit and coronavirus, but their Heathrow slots can’t have come cheap if they directly purchased them. They also changed their livery twice not so long ago, the first being the bright purple across the whole aircraft, then the second being a more subtle purple with a white tail, they surely wouldn’t of been cheap.
Very sad day indeed

It was unthinkable at one time BHX without Flybe but how quickly it became a reality is unbelievable. Coronavirus may have finally put a nail in the coffin but mismanagement totally destroyed well reputable brand that catered for needs of many who were totally dependable on the airline.

I wonder how Flybe's demise will affect passengers feeding on to other BHX airlines routes into Europe and beyond?.
In the short term until routes from Scotland and N Ireland are reduced we may lose out. Hopefully not for too long!.

Glad you got it sorted so quickly.

I had a KLM flight canx (only to AMS and back) due to snow and after contacting via email them the money was back on my card in no time at all.

Having issues dealt with so efficiently definitely gives confidence when it comes to future bookings.

not only will Flybe staff and crew be without jobs, but what about people at BHX that used to handle the flights? Will we see mass redundancies with the ground staff etc.? and spare a thought for other regional ariports, Exeter, Southampton, Newquay etc..

Really a massive blow for the UK regions and the economy.

And the bars and shops in the old Eurohub, they won't be able to survive with just Ryanair flights but my guess would be that maybe other airlines such as Wizz and Vueling will change from the main part of the airport to the old Eurohub terminal ?

Or Loganair will operate from it?

So where does this now leave Stobart& blue islands as they had planned to be operating many flights with Flybe ?
or do they just operate them under their own brand ?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
