Saw one of their training flights land at BHX the other day and was only thinking we must be hearing something soon surely.

I'd just be happy to get the terminal extension finished tbh. By that point, the terminal will have capacity for 18mppa (vs just under 13mppa handled before the pandemic).

Given the trouble airports are having getting terminal plans approved recently, I doubt we'll see anything new at BHX until aviation has "greened up" significantly.
Does the terminal extension have a restart date?

I can’t wait to find out! Does anybody have any guesses?

Obvious routes are domestic such as EDI, GLA, BHD.

I’m curious as to what European routes they may commence. Smaller regional cities such as south of France? Little/no competition, but less demand.

Higher yield routes such as AMS & CDG? Plenty of demand, but also new competition with Vueling to ORY & easyJet to AMS.

I’m also curious to know if they’ll have any codeshare partners. It’s interesting to me that they codeshared with Air France to CDG in the past, but not KLM to AMS, considering those two airlines are part of the same group.

I’ll also be interested to see if they join an alliance. I’d personally love to see them in SkyTeam, code-sharing to AMS/CDG to offer more connections, but that may be a pipe dream!

Flybe aiming to have a fleet of 32 Dash-8-400 eventually. At least 10 of which will be leased from Nordic. This from the Birmingham Mail website. No news on routes yet. Manchester is expected to become a substantial base in addition to Birmingham.

Flybe reveals new senior leadership team as it prepares for Birmingham take-off

Flybe, which announced last year that Birmingham Airport will be its new company HQ and first new crew base, has revealed its new senior leadership team.

The team will assist CEO Dave Pflieger with the launch and growth of one of the UK’s newest airlines as it prepares to take to the skies this spring.
The news follows the April 2021 sale of the business and assets of Flybe Ltd (in administration, now renamed FBE Realisations Ltd) to Thyme Opco Limited (now renamed Flybe Limited).

Members of Flybe’s new team are:

Philip Saunders, chief commercial officer.

Saunders has held senior leadership roles in commercial, sales, marketing, and distribution at seven other airlines in the UK and around the world including British Airways, Deutsche BA, SN Brussels Airlines, Caribbean Airlines, Air Malta, Kuwait Airways, and South African Airways. In addition to leading highly successful commercial transformations at these various national airlines, he was also a senior executive at Travelport in the travel technology industry.

John Jackson, chief operations and customer service officer.
Jackson will be responsible for delivering operational excellence and world-class customer service across the airline by leading Flybe’s Airports, Flight Operations, Cabin Crew, People, and IT teams. He brings with him more than 30 years of industry experience having held previous senior roles with Continental, United Airlines, dnata, and Ravn Air Group in Alaska.

Ron Karger, chief technical officer.
Karger has more than 32 years experience in aviation maintenance and technical operations with previous roles including senior leadership positions at Air Canada Jazz, WestJet, WestJet Encore, and Pacific Coastal Airlines. As the director of maintenance at Encore, he oversaw the airline’s growth from start-up status to a fleet with forty-two Dash 8-400 aircraft.

Jim Comer, director of finance.
Comer is a chartered management accountant with 20 years experience in the aviation industry. Involved with the previous Flybe Ltd. since 2001, he has held roles in Treasury, FP&A, and Finance Business partnering, and he also played an important role in several pivotal projects including the acquisition and integration of BA Connect in 2007, the successful listing of Flybe on the London Stock Exchange in 2010, and the successful sale of Flybe’s business and assets in April 2021 to Cyrus Capital Partners L.P.

CEO, Dave Pflieger, said of the new additions: “We are extremely excited to have such accomplished industry leaders joining Flybe’s management team. Each one brings a wealth of professional experience and knowledge that will prove invaluable as we look to launch the new Flybe, but also create a strong community focused airline that people love.”

That's an impressive list on the Flybe team. On paper at least. Plenty of experience. Let's hope it works out for them and BHX. Hopefully they won't encroach on existing or longer term route plans that EasyJet may have for us. Time will tell.

Flybe 2.0 starts cabin crew recruitment ahead of possible May launch

The reborn regional airline Flybe has taken another step closer to launch as its starts to recruit cabin crew and managers at its Birmingham and Belfast hubs.

Flybe has always targeted an early 2022 launch but the closing date for job applications make it unlikely to be before the end of April making May the most likely launch date.

According to the job advertisements, Flybe is offering permanent cabin crew contracts to people who love aviation and are passionate about exceeding customer expectations.

The airline is looking for experienced crew though not trainees stating that applicants should have a current cabin crew attestation.

No salary is mentioned in the advert but it says that applications will close on 31st March, or earlier if enough applications are received.

Flybe 2.0 will be based around the Bombardier Dash 8 turboprop which is well suited for regional flying and that will be the staple of the airline.

The airline has already come under fire from the British Airline Pilots Association (BALPA) after it imposed “unusually aggressive” confidentiality rules on its pilots which BALPA said could impact on safety. Martin Chalk, general secretary of BALPA said: “Any airline who offers such restrictions as part of the employment of professional pilots has clearly failed to understand this, and will not go far in our industry.”

Hi there I’m new here but hoping to become a contributor to the forum! Just a little update as I saw that the check-in directories have been changed outside the airport ready for the summer season and Flybe is now on them, with the relaunched airline operating check-in from zone B. For some reason they are using the old logo blue logo and not the purple one.

I endorse Kevin's welcome and sentiments, Onlinespeedy.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
