Any likelihood of Frankfurt and Munich returning ?
I've no idea. I don't know if Red Flyer would be prepared to drop a hint - one way or the other.

Thought you might like to know you can expect several important announcements soon!!
Many thanks again for your contributions, Red Flyer.

Do you know if a date has yet been set for the local authority's determination of the airport's planning application?

There was talk back along about the airport application from the council. The feeling was that the airport application would be discussed and voted on a day that was for this application only rather than with a lot of other planning applications on the same day. January was talked about but heard nothing certain on this.

Tui launches winter 20/21 and summer 2021 on nov 7 plus around the same time easyJet releases sep and October 2020 so I guess those could be it ?
It might be but my gut feeling is that it's something more.

I recon you are right with some thing new. Normally if odd routes they tend to get leaked,as in something new stays hush hush. Then it gets a comment like I did not see that coming. The suspence is killing but it gets people talking and thinking.

Probably a new Easyjet route or 2 to go along with an extra based aircraft to fill in the TCX gaps.

Potentially more from Lauda and Easyjet for next summer ?

I think its only a matter of time before Jet2 set up, Potentially for summer 2021, when you look at the hole Thomas Cook has left ( TUI have filled some it ) there is still a chunk of the market left for Jet2 to serve, Would add some much needed choice for South West and South Wales passengers alike

I’m a bit sceptical about jet2 now. If they wanted to I think they would have been there by now

With the collapse of monarch and now Thomas Cook it will focus them on their current markets to fill those gaps. I do think that the South West of the UK is a too big of a market not for them to enter eventually even if that entry is delayed due to a focus elsewhere.

I am sure that Jet2 are trying to pick up the Thomas Cook pax from MAN/BHX/EMA/NCL/GLA where they already operate. A new base (if they want one?) will have to wait to 2021.

Thomas Cook, along with TUI, easyJet and Ryanair, might have been seen as too great an obstacle for Jet2. Thomas Cook has now gone leaving a circa 500,000 passengers per annum void. At the moment it looks as though TUI will be picking up about half of that next year.

If Jet2 came it would almost certainly not be until 2021 at the earliest, as Seasider points out and others have as well in the BRS forums. By then TUI might have plugged more Thomas Cook gaps, and easyJet might also have chipped in. If these two airlines between them put the airport back to the position it was in when Thomas Cook was extant then, if that was causing Jet2 to ponder, the situation will not have changed.

Even if the status quo was restored that would still leave about 900,000 annual passengers short of the airport's current 10 mppa cap. A four-aircraft Jet2 base would probably generate more than that although I believe that Jet2 don't typically fly as many rotations per aircraft per day as the likes easyJet and Ryanair, and in winter they are not as prolific either.

Foxlimayankee made the point last week in another thread that BRS is getting close to its permitted night movements and night noise quota limits. A four-aircraft base might be a problem in that regard although if the airport is to reach its medium term 12 mppa target (assuming the current 10 mppa cap limit is raised, which it might not) it must have taken the night time restrictions into account.

Purely from a night time perspective, more non-based aircraft might help because they rarely if ever take off or land during the restricted periods. Turkish?

For anyone who actually knows what is going on it must be a source of amusement reading our various prognostications

Any hints?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
