Use this prefix for new threads for Bristol Airport
I wonder what is going on with Ryanair at Bristol. It can’t be due to reducing the size of the base because all the Maltese flights plus one of the Seville’s were operated from those bases into Bristol . They would t normally run away from a battle with others either . To have had a route on sale for many months then suddenly withdraw is very strange and that’s not to mention that Budapest is still not on sale either

Also it’s worth mentioning the lack of a Tunisia service from Bristol. Since the demise of tcx there has been no route on offer. Another one for easyJet maybe ?

So it looks like Ryanair are adding routes to the booking engines. MLA would be a huge loss as I believe it’s a very popular route for airlines. Ryanair schedule is still be decided and will be over the next month.

Wikipedia is up to its old tricks or is it ? A big entry for Enter Air was entered then removed.

On the dried fruit forum someone mentioned a rumour about a Bristol to Teesside route. Guessing it'd be with loganair.

Seems an unlikely one, especially in the current uncertain times, but the ways of airlines can often surprise people outside the industry like me.

Eastern tried BRS-MME in 2005-2006 but it didn't prove popular. Probably the reason was the easyJet Newcastle service which hasn't gone away (well, it has for the time being but is due back in May).

Yeah I was thinking it would struggle and if my assumption that it would be Loganair operating it i doubt they seem wary of going up against Easyjet even from alternative airports.

My money would be on Eastern.
Not for me!
See BRS Loganair thread for latest news on this. Jerry wins the prize............if there was one. ;)

Could Bristol to USA be on the cards ?
I would imagine BRS would be a fair way down Jetblue's list to be honest bearing in mind BHX hasn't got a US scheduled service.
If I was a betting man I would say MAN is top of their wish list followed by BHX, they do say English not UK regionals

The article mentions English regionals so I say Brs could be in with a shout alongside Bhx. Manchester has a lot of competition now.

I’m thinking airports such as BHX, MAN, LBA, BRS, NCL and possibly CWL.

I wouldn't really get any hopes up. JetBlue tend to act as a market disrupter for the big 3 in the USA. Its likely as well that England means the UK. In general expect them to go to Dublin, Manchester and Edinburgh in the British Isles where the others are.

Manchester probably has the least competition now than it has had in the last decade.
Even with Aer Lingus added into the mix, MAN-NYC has, in the last 18 months, gone from 1 B763 a day to EWR, and from 1 B744 and 1 HD A332 a day to JFK, to now just 1 A333 and 1 A321 a day to JFK, capacity on the route has decreased about 54%. More than enough room for JetBlue and its A321N.

id say order of likelihood is MAN, BHX, BRS and then NCL. But remember, it’s taken JetBlue about 5 years from initial statement to now for London, and they aren’t going to have a huge fleet of LR’s, so is unlikely to be a multitude of U.K. regional flying.

The points I make below are not simply to generate discussion for the sake of it but are put in a genuine belief. My principal question relates to the airport owners' position as the rest of this post will show. There may well be those who take a contrary view to mine and, if so, I'd be interested in the reasons.

BRS relies on footfall though the airport to generate much of its revenue via ancillary streams such as car parking and retail, with only around 40% coming from aeronautical revenue. Until the pandemic it's been a very profitable airport for its owners who have not held back on serious infrastructure expansion investment and want to continue to do so if the planning authorities allow.

So would the BRS owners be prepared to splash out on incentives to attract a single-daily transatlantic route, for the summer season only at that, when some priming up their existing customer airlines' pumps such as easyJet or Ryanair would likely bring in many more passengers on new or increased-frequency short-haul routes than, say, a daily New York route? What would be in the latter for the airport owners if they could generate more footfall through additional short-haul traffic?

Like others I would be very surprised if BRS was in with a chance anyway, not least because Heathrow is only 100 miles away from Bristol along the motorway and airlines know that many West Country travellers regard it as their 'local' long-haul airport and use it in considerable numbers.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
