It is 1 booking with BA. Thanks.

no problem. did you say she is on AA to LHR? If so she'll arrive at T3 and she just needs to follow the signs to flight connections T5 and get the airside bus to T5. Once at T5 she'll go though immigration at security. Domestic flights all leave from the T5A building, most of the domestic gates are at the north end but there are some at the south end.

I'm not 100% sure. I know the ticket is booked with BA with BA flight numbers and she's flying AA to SFO via PHL from MAN i just can't remember if it's AA or BA metal she's on flying SFO to LHR. I'll have to ask her! I did tell her though that if it is AA she'll have to change terminals.

I changed between MAN-LHR (BA T5) and LHR-PHL (AA T3) last year on one booking and the whole process was relatively easy. You won't collect your bags - instead just follow 'Connections All Terminals' and she will have to catch the airside transfer bus. I did it in just below half an hour.

Ah ok. So if arriving on BA it will be a bit quicker as she’ll arrive and depart from T5. Process is the same so immigration then security, but without the schelp from T3 over to T5 first.

She's arriving on AA so it'll be T3.

Looks like my sister got her airlines mixed up! She arrived back this morning from San Francisco with BA. It was a 747-400 G-CIVG which is showing it's age as she sais compared to the American Airlines A330s she flew on on the way out the aircraft was very dated.
The IFE was good with a good selection of films but the service and food was really poor and not as good as American, it was her first time flying with BA i believe so they didn't leave a good impression on the long haul flight. The SFO flight landed on time at 10.55 this morning and she had a smooth transit throught Terminal 5 to her flight to MAN which departed at 12.40 and landed at MAN around 13.30. The short haul flight she said was good, the aircraft she flew on G-EUYD and is 9 years old and she had no complaints about the service on that flight.
In all she was impressed with American Airlines but with British Airways she won't fly with them again long haul unless like these flights were the price is really cheap. I believe she could take a trip to Johannesburg in the future so it'll be interesting to see if BA come out as the cheapest option or she flies with someone else.

Interesting Jerry! G-CIVG has the Super High J config with the refurbished cabin and would have had that refurbishment no earlier than 2015. I've flown on 2 refurbished aircraft in Business and they were quite pleasant. But the overhead and the aircraft in general shows it's age! On the other hand BA do fly round some knackered 747's with seats and IFE from the year 2000 which are apparently horrid!

She flew in economy so i'd imagine they'd concentrate less on that product. A lot of the BA 747s are getting quite old but i believe they will all be gone by 2024 which will kind of be sad but for many exchanging a 747 for a 787 or A380 will be like stepping into a different world. In the end they are old aircraft and even refurbished they are probably still going to show their age especially compared to much younger aircraft.

As you noted, for the super J aircraft all cabins have been refreshed, and all cabins got the new IFE. The IFE is actually the the best on the BA fleet and some of the best I have seen anywhere, it is a new Panasonic system.

There are some plans to refresh the mid J aircraft later this year and in 2019 so hopefully they may be brought up to standard soon.

Booked my flight from Madrid to Heathrow in August flight cost me £95.00 one way with £11.00 for seat selection included in that price, the flight will be on a 767 300.
As a comparison Ryanair for BHX was £86.00 one way and Easyjet at BRS was £84 with £7.45 included for seat selection. So BA aren't that far off from EZY and FR in price. Cheapest option to CWL was Air France via Paris CDG was £185 with seat selection.

I friend who works in media in the SW told me BA really don't want another runway at LHR as i will bring more competition including Easyjet which they are terrfied to have at Heathrow.

Isn't BA short haul economy getting more akin to low-cost airlines' products? I didn't think that BA provided complimentary refreshments any more. Is it possible to pre-select a seat? If so is there an additional charge? I read somewhere that, although there is a checked baggage allowance within the basic fare still, it's possible to purchase a hand baggage only ticket which is cheaper than a standard (checked baggage included) ticket.

I'm not surprised at that as they do have a monopoly but i wonder if with the way they are structuring their fares and product if they are preparing for that. BA do go up against EZY at LGW and seem to have a decent sized operation and if EZY do expand to Heathrow after R3 i think they might have a big challenge themselves to take on BA and the rest of IAG.

It's the same structure as Ryanair and Easyjet. Basic fare then you can select things like seats and checked bags. The food is buy onboard by M&S. My sister flew with them from LHR to MAN and said their short haul product was pretty good and she's flown with a good mix of airlines including Ryanair, TUI, Flybe and Aer Lingus.

He said should Runway3 happen, EZY are planning to base a huge amount of aircraft there. I reckon BA will end up pretty knocked, like they have been at Gatwick having moved out of the North Terminal so I believe, with Easyjet having it now. Certainly Easyjet's product is good these days, and Ryanair isn't bad either, always found them on time. BA will have something to worry about.

No more free snacks or drinks in economy short haul (unless you are on BA cityflyer from LCY). There are two types of fares, basic which doesn’t include any checked bags or free seat selection - you can always wait until OLCI opens and select a seat for free, or plus fares which include the normal baggage allowance.

If you have status you do get your normal seat selection perks even on basic but you still do not get any baggage allowance.

They moved from north to south at LGW as U2 were spread across both terminals which clearly wasn’t ideal. As LGW’s biggest customer U2 quite rightly wanted to consolidate in one terminal but that meant BA had to move. Now with the extra Monarch slots BA is expanding at LGW.

For BA Heathrow isn't just about the point 2 point on Europe it's a lot about the connections as well especially going onto their North American network, BA wouldn't be able to afford to let Heathrow go like thay did with Gatwick. If it happens it will be interesting to see who comes out on top but there are lots of airports around Europe that have decent sized LCC bases and a main hub carrier as well. Madrid is an example of that.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
