No I'm using a Nikon bridge camera now, which is taking a bit of getting used to  Hoping to go for a DSLR on the next upgrade

Looks like you're doing OK to me. :D

Thank you :hatsoff:

Didn't stay long as it was horribly dull, within 10 mins of getting home it was brilliant sunshine

That's a bit how it's been here today. We visited Gordale Scar near Malham in the Yorkshire Dales (Photos pending) The weather was fine while we were there but it was raining nearly all the way home. British weather! :whiteflag:

Hi Ray, that's excellent! I was just copying the code to paste your picture in to make a comment but I realised you'd already done it. You're getting really good at taking night pictures. They're not easy to do especially when your subject is moving. Do you remember the settings you used or was it trial and error?

Thank you sir :hatsoff:

They were taken with the old bridge camera. It was an unusually bright day with the sun seemingly at exactly the wrong angle making it a bit of a nightmare, there were many more pictures I had to bin. Unfortunately it doesn't take lens attachments :s_sad

As for the noise bund I'm not sure of the exact date it was constructed. The runway was extended in 1966 and the new terminal building was opened in 1984 so I imagine it will have been constructed at some time within that period using the leftover soil from either. My guess would be it would have been constructed at the same time as the new terminal, as just behind it are the back gardens of the houses on Elmdon lane and it could well have been included as part of the planning. It's an interesting one though, next time I'm in Sheldon Country Park I'll see if one of the older regulars can remember.

There's a smaller one just around the corner that I do remember being built in 1998. There's some pictures of it here.

Great pictures Ray. You've captured that seasonal autumnal glow.

Do you have to walk to that location? When I was last down there I considered going there but I wasn't sure if I'd end up with a whopping charge in the long stay.

I usually park just up from Marston Green station and walk down the path alongside the railway, through the terminal and up to the car park. It's a nice walk along the east side of the apron which itself has some good views. I'd say it takes roughly about 15mins, unless you pause on the bridge en route. Like you say it avoids the whopping car park charges :s_yes

Thanks Ray. I didn't know you could walk all that way from the Marston Green station so thanks for that, it's much appreciated.

Super shots taken in the rain! I just love the first one with all the spray from the Tommy Cook. Interesting picture with the golfers. It's funny how so many airports seem to have golf courses bordering their perimeters. Up here in Leeds we have a golf course at one end and a cemetery at the other!

I've just commented on your picture in the gallery but I'll say it again. That's a super shot from an interesting perspective. I can't keep up with all these BHX uploads. They're all so great.

Shot this not long before I left, the Islander had been buzzing around for a while, and the Emirates was down wind, and they seemed to get quite close......

The B777 is much higher than the Islander, it looks closer because of its relative size.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
