Great pictures - like the background as well. If there's anything I would have liked to see it at the pier with the other wide bodies but you know, there's plenty of opportunity for that.

If it's dry Saturday evening I'll try and go and get one for you, although it won't be the best angle as the photo ops are now very limited of that view.

Looks good. Can't wait to see the Airblue A340 (if possible).

Cyprus have been doing the IT flights for Olympic Holidays. Originally Small Planet were operating them, apparently there was an 'issue' somewhere along the line and Cyprus took over.

Great pictures thanks for posting them. It's a nice angle of the 787, different to the usual side or underneath views.

BHX Experience Summer 2013

My BHX experience was good, check in was a bit slow but once that was done, we went through customs which was swift and easy. My only gripe with BHX is that they tell everybody that the aircraft is boarding when its not and this just means everybody leaves the duty free area and walks down the new pier just to wait here for around 30 mins when they could just leave passengers in the main departure area, shopping and eating for a little longer.
On our return from Enfidha, bags took about 20 mins to come down the carousel so not too bad, this was at 3am on a sunday morning..

At least it meant you had time to take the photos :s_yes

20 mins is quite good. In my experience BHX baggage reclaim has always been a bit hit and miss. I've done aircraft to car in 20 mins before, whereas on other occasions I've waited more than an hour just to get the cases at what seemed a very quiet time. I guess this is an issue not exclusive to Birmingham though.

Smashing set of pictures kebabselector. I take it those were taken yesterday, what a smashing day and so warm for the time of year too. :hatsoff:

Nice picture - I suppose you'd probably have to have them in order from smallest to biggest for it to look even better.

Hi Haassan13

You need to add credits to all photos if they're not your own.

A credit will read something like what Ray Finkle posted prior to your post.

You'll have to add them as soon as possible or they'll have to be removed to avoid causing offence to the photographer who took the original pictures.

Just to add to what Aviador said there is a link on each picture that if copy and pasted will automatically credit the photographer. I've done the Air France and the Concorde ones for you but you'll have to do the rest as I can't find them.

The Concorde one was taken on the day of the opening of the current terminal (in 1984) - it does look as though there were no fences!

I remember that old grassed area well it was huge with loads of benches, the land sloped steeply towards the airfield with the fence at the bottom so sat in the picnic area gave completely clear views across the whole airfield (which makes it appear if there wasn't any fences). My dad used to park in the car park (those were the days when it didn't cost a second mortgage) and we'd spend all day there watching the Wardair 747's and DC-10's and Orion A300's. Happy times

One of them was an Emirates A310 (yes, at BHX)

Emirates started out with a a B737 and A300. The start up was aided by none other than PIA (who would have thought a carrier partly started by PIA could turn out to be Emirates. Shame Emirates management did not help out PIA).

They then gained some A310's in 1987 to start their expansion then the B777's started arriving in 1996, and the rest, as they say, is history!

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
