Looking at Flightaware it appears that the Jet2 from Newquay never actually operated.

B738 G-GDFF operated Birmingham to Newquay, then several training flights around Newquay before diverting to Manchester. EXS300T & EXS301T

Birmingham ATIS at 1953 giving out runway 15 in use, expect an ILS approach, nothing about the airfield being closed??

Is it open now?

My flight from Aricife has now been cancelled. What are Tui's options here...someone here said the airport actually closes at 1am and we've been told they will try and get us hotel rooms.

Birmingham website:-

Latest update 19:53 hrs

Following the aircraft incident today, the runway has reopened and operations have resumed. All passengers must check flight details with their airlines and follow advice issued by them. We understand the frustration and apologise for the disruption this has caused. Our teams have worked as quickly as possible, in line with strict protocols, which must be followed to ensure a safe reopening of the runway following a prolonged closure.

Thanks Matt. Checking on Flightaware.com EXS300T & EXS301T do show as training flights at NQY but no sign of a flight back to BHX or MAN, although I appreciate that at showed on BHX arrivals.

HB-AFN first departure at ~20:10 from runway 15 to Frankfurt

There are two flights under EXS301T today on FR24 for G-GDFF, one being NQY-NQY training/circuit bashing and one being NQY-BHX, which then diverted to MAN

Looking at BHX arrivals and departures, not just Jet2, but can imagine some serious disruption next 2/3 days for many airlines with aircraft out of position and crew out of hours. Smack bang at start of school holidays, so sadly 1000's will be affected. Terminal today, well just can't imagine😒😒

Wednesdays list of diverted/cancelled arrivals:-

According to Jet2 website they cancelled all remaining afternoons departures.

Wow, what a week for our family holiday. Started with a slight delay on the way out due to the ATC issue, then returning we were due to depart Lanzarote at 9.30pm, to then be told the flight was cancelled. Offered overnight accommodation in a hotel from Tui and then returned to the airport at 9am for an 11am departure, only for that to be delayed until 3.30pm. We were told the aircraft had issues with the AC so a replacement 737 was sourced.

Not great when all you want to do is get home.

TUI having a mare tonight with 3 of their dreamliners, all seem to be heavily delayed tonight

TOM7336 to Tenerife, 17:55 departed at 20:27 on B788 G-TUII
TOM7386 to Palma, 18:25 departed at 21:13 on B789 G-TUIM, subbing for B788 G-TUID

TOM7272 to Larnaca, 15:30 TUE, finally departed at 20:46 on B788 G-TUID a wopping 29 hours late!

G-TUID appeared to had gone tech Tuesday afternoon.

and the TUI B788 G-TUID saga continues.......

so TOM7272 to Larnaca departed 29 hours late and landed at Larnaca 28hrs 50 minutes late

however either due to crew hours or the aircraft going tech again, it has yet to depart Larnaca back to Birmingham on TOM7273 (which was due 02:10 Wednesday morning)

current arrival at Birmingham is estimated now around 02:10 Friday morning, only a mere 48 hours late!!! - really have to feel sorry for the 300 or so passengers being mucked around by TUI

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
