Re: Holidays4u in administration

Birmingham Airport has warned passengers due to fly out to Dalaman in Turkey tomorrow morning with Holidays 4 UK that their flight has been cancelled following the collapse of the travel company.

Passengers stage sit-in on Viking Hellas flight at Birmingham Airport

Around 100 passengers staged a sit-in on a plane at Birmingham Airport following a dispute with the airline.

They refused to leave the Viking Hellas plane for several hours after their flight to Athens was disrupted.

Does anybody know what caused the initial diversion and subsequent knock on delay at Birmingham? It's understandable when people get upset in situations like this. Handling staff are often accused of not give out enough information and I would hazard a guess this is what happened here.

Re: Diversions, Delays & Cancellations

Monarch look to be having a bit of a mare today.

ZB 933 from TFS due 23.55 last night isn't scheduled to arrive until 16.00 today. ZB467 from Nice due 13.10 is running 5 hours late, now due 18.25 and tonights ZB979 from Malaga due 20.55 is now due 02.00.

I wonder if the Air Explore 737 is playing up yet again.

Tenerife South Monarch Scheduled ZB 933 23:55 Delayed\Next Information at 18:00

Apparently the Air Explore 733 is sat on the ground in Tenerife with well over a 12 hour delay. Outbound Malaga and Milan are both heavily delayed, six hours and counting for Malaga.

The Strategic Airlines inbound from Zante due to land at 13.55 will now operate into Man with pax arriving by road at 10.30 tomorrow.

Must be awful for people with young children.

A US Airways A333 diverted in from MAN this morning, don't know what the reason was.

It departed back to MAN around 10ish.

Re: Diversions, Delays & Cancellations

This afternoons EK40 is delayed and still on stand (scheduled departure 13:25) so BHX currently has 2x 77Ws a 747 and an A343. Add to that the regulars and the 10/11 parked up Ryanairs and the place looks very busy indeed

Re: Diversions, Delays & Cancellations

What time did the Air Blue A340 get in? It's a shame you didn't manage to get some pictures.

Re: Diversions, Delays & Cancellations

It was around 8ish give or take. It left around 23:25. EK40 scheduled to depart 13:25 yesterday finally left for Dubai just before midday today.

Not the best quality my battery gave up after one pic. Transaero 747-300 VP-BGX, (still parked up, due to depart sometime on Monday to be broken up) with the Air Blue A340-300 behind.

Re: Diversions, Delays & Cancellations

Another one just landed.

Flightradar24 also shows three more have just flown over Luton, possibly heading our way.

Re: Diversions, Delays & Cancellations

In the end we had 5 Wizzair A320's, 2 Ryanair 738's, an Easy A319 and a Swiss RJ100 from Luton and Stansted. Apparently the Singapore 773 diverted from MAN called BHX ops, but with the above diverts and all the Ryanairs parked up for the winter there was no room so it went to EMA instead

Re: Diversions, Delays & Cancellations

Thanks Ray. I watched one of the Ryanair aircraft heading up to East Midlands and wondered why they had opted for there instead of Birmingham when the others had gone to BHX so that explains it.

Re: Diversions, Delays & Cancellations

We've had a couple of diverts in today.

ATP G-MANO diverted in from Coventry earlier this afternoon. KLM F70 PH-KZM from Amsterdam and British Airways A320 G-EUUP from Warsaw diverted in from Heathrow about an hour ago.

It's been very heavy here all morning. FR24 showing a DLH, Easyjet and Emirates holding, a Ryanair from Lanzarote has just gone to EMA.

Beat me to it Ray. I was about to post exactly the same thing

Bets on who'll give up holding first?

EDIT: Stockholm SAS is holding over MAN.

BHX website is saying the runway is currently closed for snow clearance. Lufthansa and Monarch both gone to MAN, Easy went to Luton, Ryanair have gone to Stansted and a KLM gone back to AMS. Emirates looks to still be holding, for now.

SNOCLO until 1445Z at the earliest.

ZB 497 must be feeling lucky, it's trying BHX.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
