Yes, I think the fact that the storm was further to the south than they initially forecast had an impact on the wind strengths elsewhere.
Based on the metars for LHR and LGW, none of the predicted gusts over 40kt (BBC online weather) happened. In fact, the highest gust for each was on just 1 metar report was 30 or 31kt.

As an aside, years ago, those of us who were diversion geeks were expecting a bonanza (MAN & BHX) with the forecasts for several days of a deep area of snow hitting southern England. Fairly late, the depression swung to the south and it was a non-event. Northern France got a deluge of snow instead.

In the mid/ late 1970s the opposite happened Birmingham was in the eye of the storm and between 5pm and 11pm Elmdon airport took over 35 diverts from LHR,LGW,MAN LTN,STN.
They were lining the Tridents up on the old short runway, planes on a taxiway, outside the hangars etc.
Listening to my Sharp VHF radio_One Trident pilot was saying passengers had been onboard his plane on the short runway for over 3 hrs, and were threatening to force the doors and get out unless steps arrived with coaches.
I think we were one of the few airports left open.Im not sure if we have ever had 35 plus airliner divs on the deck at the same time before.
I did have a full log but threw the book away years ago..noooo !

We have had worst winds this afternoon than LGW or LHR when it was supposed to be the opposite ..
There was a few gusts in Darlaston but if it Is strong I hear peoples bins getting knocked over, Some Loosely Secured Gates being smashed around and often large crash bang wallops of other stuff being thrown around. We had a couple but it was mostly rain. It must have happened 15 side though as I didn't hear many if any aircraft come over

Next storm due to hit UK tomorrow mainly up North so we may escape the worst.
Manchester showing already as gusting 45 knots tomorrow.
Could be interesting but BHX wont be getting any diversions !
Once again however the wind is straight down the runways at MAN,LGW,LHR so apart from any possible winsmdsheer shouldn't be an issue for them.
BHX however will be a crosswind so probably cause more issues.

Worth the wait as the old colours are so much better makes a great photo mind you hope weather is better with you than up here (misty and damp)

Yeah I know but it is virtually the same just a few changes and a slightly lighter green, green engines and dramatically better that the dreadful sand scheme which doesn`t look good in any light

Superb inbound diversion today, Israeli Airforce B707 from Mildenhall, due fog there.

Made possible by BHX lifting its no non emergency diverts NOTAM at midnight .

Parked on the old short runway.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
