Hi everyone

Im pretty new on here but been lurking for years and flying from LBA for even longer for buisness.

Always wondered, what are the aircraft type assignments (if any) to the airbridge gates?

Can they both handle medium widebody (A310,762/3,A332/3) or is it just one?

Sorry for the geeky question, just thought someone live Aviador or Bigman could probably answer....

Thanks...

Hi Ravmanlba

It's much nicer to see you posting as opposed to lurking in the background so thank you for plucking up the courage to post!

As for your question about the airbridges, the actual airbridges are suitable for most aircraft types.

Most restrictions regarding aircraft using airbridges at LBA are associated with the size of the stand itself. Stand 7 is small stand so it can only really accommodate aircraft up to the size of an A320 because the tail end of larger aircraft would infringe taxiway Alpha. Stand 8 airbridge is restrictive for the same reason limiting it to aircraft of around the Boeing 767-300 size. The actual width of the stands also limits the type of aircraft that can use both stand 7 and 8.

This may change in the future, if the apron is ever widened it may become possible to alter the layout of the stands to enable larger aircraft types to use both airbridges but I'm not aware of any plans to do this.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.

Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
