The longer they stall on releasing summer 23, the more people turn to Bristol.
Really wouldn't need to worry as neither EZY nor FR have full S23 schedule on sale just yet...and as Jerry says, normally the following summer schedule goes on sale in the autumn although sometimes earlier.

Lets not forget W9 had their W22/23 flights on sale a long time before anyone else!

(if we're talking LCC and not charters)

Patience is a virtue :)

Hop would be a great addition to the Paris route. They have been very successful from Newcastle albeit a different market.

I would envisage ORY has either become seasonal (of which Paris generally isn't seasonal route), or was merely a slot sitting exercise for their newly acquired slots at ORY. Regardless, it's not on sale for Winter 22/23 which it should well have been by now...

Let's hope CWL can find a carrier willing to serve Paris more frequently and not just 3 x weekly on an A321 :cautious:

I just posted in the Vueling thread in the "Airline Forum" section, and listed the current bases ( https://forums4airports.com/threads/1655/post-245213 ). ORY is an A321-only base, so it's not as if they can downgrade the route to an A319/320 if there was availability.

I read an article earlier that Vueling were starting winter flights to the Canaries from LGW using A320s. ACE, TFS and LPA I think. Some flights are based originate from LGW while others aren't. Let's assume if they started flights from CWL to all of some of these destinations (maybe once a week to each) over the winter months, do you think it would be a success? Or is what TUI provide just enough?

Here's the link

In the current climate I'm not so sure they would be successful. In the long term when the economy recovers I'd say yes but at the moment even an established name like Vueling might find it hard to make say a Tenerife route to work.

Still no PMI or AGP on sale, usually they are available by now! Let’s hope they are not actually dropped!

FR also not on sale yet, seems like airlines are later fully releasing schedules this summer compared to previous!

Yes a bit worrying but hopefully we'll see the routes onsale soon.

I’d say not at all worrying. A six month lead time is normal, sometimes less. Even EasyJet haven’t released 2023 summer yet
Hope so, i'd be shocked if we lost Vueling on Malaga and Mallorca but they did put Alicante onsale quite a while ago and not the others. Fingers crossed we'll see them onsale soon!

I saw a social media response by Cardiff airport advising vueling will be releasing their schuled soon. It was on another generic topic and can't find it now. I did find it odd that they only mentioned vueling and not Ryanair malaga too.
Although it's still not too late, I do find it odd that they aren't on sale yet, especially when other Airlines released the popular Spanish destinations months ago. You'd think airlines would've finalised their timetables well in advance and summer 2022 is well over the peak to analyse this year's data.

would be interesting to see if Wizz has damaged VY yields this summer. always thought they could do exist and that there is enough market for them to enjoy. I don’t think the airport has reached critical mass on the routes served by both VY and Wizz. Hope they get them loaded soon and would be great to have Orly back. Think it needs another year to bed in. I think back at the Barcelona route which took a while and then had a storming summer before they changed flight times and it then suffered before being pulled. remember that route flying 6K passengers month on month at one point. VY now a big player at LGW. Wonder if its part of the plan to operate out of the uk more. Barcelona and Rome would be great additions.

It is unfortunate but these things happen. I can never understand why people contact newspapers when they're delayed. Surely its better to get to their destination safely rather than on time on an aircraft that shouldn't be in the air due to a tech problem.

People like to moan. I believe that the article failed to mention the engineers, parts and replacement crew flown in from Barcelona by Vueling.

Unfortunately a negative article about Cardiff Airport is good clickbait for Wales Online.

And still no sign of AGP & PMI

I’d hope (optimistically) that ALC will return to an increased frequency as it’s a very popular staple route year-round from CWL… even VY themselves quoted some years ago that CWL was their most profitable route from ALC.

3 x weekly in summer would make it the same frequency as winter!

Very surprising anddisappointing! I wonder if the forward bookings aren't great and they have competition from Wizz as well.

To cut flights by 50% seems extreme as that would be more seats cuts than what has been taken on by the 2x weekly Wizz flights.
LF's from summer were: May - 70%, Jun 72%, Jul 78% and Aug 88%. (Vueling & Wizz combined)
Things to take into account when looking at them is Wizz were still fairly new, so may have actually had a lower LF than VY but we'll never know, and VY always have fairly moderate-high prices on route, rather than rock bottom prices, meaning they "should" make decent money on the route.

Hopefully they are just fiddling with schedules. Historically ALC, PMI and AGP have always had flights on a Saturday which have been the most popular, and there was no Sat flight for PMI this year, and now no ALC next summer.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
