Don't worry John, you are not the first to think that and you won't be the last. One day hopefully they will miss out the 'via Southampton' bit and we will have direct flights to such destinations.

Gatwick Service

I fly to Gatwick and back every six weeks or so. For as long as I can remember I have not had on time departures in both directions, one is the most I can hope for and most delays are significant. I would love to see FlyBe's stats for this route.

Going down on Wednesday evening (on time) 44 pax. Return on Thursday last flight back (delayed over an hour) roughly 25 pax.

Has anyone else noticed you can't book a flight from LBA to Gatwick after 31st Mar? Just tried to book a flight in May return in June, and no flights showing. Is this the end?

It wouldn't surprise me to be honest. I've said it before, Leeds has a brilliant train service to London which I'm sure Flybe had a hard time competing with.

I have just tried to book for May and got the same message to say there are no flights - although LBA - LGW is still shown as a route on the Flybe Route map and on the LBA web site as a summer and winter route. It is looking possible though that from the end of the month, the route may disappear from the Flybe route map? I hope not, but with fuel prices as they are and the economy as it is, it may be that the route is no longer sustainable. I hope it is just a glitch on the booking system, but I am getting a bad feeling!

That is such a shame, although considering you can travel on the train direct to London for £50 it's not surprising. What were the load figures like then?

There were 3202 passengers on the route in January - if anyone knows how many flights operated, it will be quite easy to work out an average load factor (on a 78 seater Q400). I've tried to decipher the current Flybe timetable but I think you need a Phd to understand it!

One feels the need to bow to  ryans clear superiour knowledge...

On a serious note, bad news if true but it probably wont be long before there is a replacement.

I'm booked on the LBA - LGW flight on 1st April (together with 9 other family members!). Got an email last night from Flybe confirming cancellation...........nightmare. Looks like I'll have to get up really early and drive to either MAN or NCL, or maybe just get down to LGW by car.

Shame. Bring back LBA - LHR

Long shot but could we see a replcement from easyjet?

Would be nice and would tie in well with their LGW programme, but I'm hoping for a lot more routes from Easyjet after dipping their toe in the water with the LBA - Geneva route........

RE: easyjet... Normally I'd agree but they do have a bit more of a domestic business than the other "bigger" UK carriers...?

HI all,

Sad news indeed if the Flybe service to LGW has ceased operation. Does anyone have absolute clarity on this matter. I see no announcement from LBA or Flybe is forthcoming. It is a real shame if true :nea:

Perhaps there will be an announcement of cessation of the Flybe operated LGW flight when another operator is ready to take over - hopefully with more realistic fares that can compete with East Coast Mainline.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.

Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
