I spotted that one of the Flybe franchise partners will operate a flight of goodwill from Exeter to Jersey today to help stranded passengers. Could we see jet2 do the same as it’s certainly got capacity.

Airports like Exeter and Southampton have quite literally closed down today but in the case of LBA due to having a mix of airlines altho bad it could of been alot worse. This would be a great time for easyJet to start a Leeds to Belfast service or like stated before jet2 ,altho I'm aware it ain't just a case of let's start flights to Belfast!

I keep wondering when the cherry picking will start by Stobart and Loganair - hopefully with at least a Dash as it seems far more resilient than its ATR competitor judging by recent stormy weather performance at LBA - 733 or 319 would be more resilient at LBA but that would need LS or EasyJet to step in - as we keep saying AMP have excellent relationships with EasyJet so I'm sure there will be plenty of hotlines between airports!

2019 is not up yet but as you can see LBA was one of the busiest domestic routes from Belfast City (screenshot from CAA 2018 total route analysis):

I guess big question for Jet2 will be that come the peak summer months is the another slack in 's schedule of at least one of the 7+ Leeds/Bradford based Boeing 737-300 to operate an morning & evening Belfast International rotation?

Or would it mean that they have to look into extending the life of either Boeing 737-300, G-CELY or G-GDFB which are both currently schedule to be withdrawn from service within the next 3/4 months, which overall might not be cost effective.

Really shows the true potential of LBA if we can fill 4 or 5 Flybe flights a day to just Belfast! I feel easyJet would be our best bet as jet2 tend to be more holiday and city destination based now.
What a horrible loss though,as a plane spotter among the jets it was always great to see the Flybe props!

Just a thought to throw into the mix-

Why not Jet2 leasing a Dash 8(I think there may be a few available just at the moment and pleany of crews :) ) and operate a shuttle LBA- Belfast City at the same 5 times daily it was until yesterday.

Or even more thought -
Lease 4/5 Dash 8s and operate them on ther Paris/Amsterdam/Jersey/Newquay and maybe add fuirther city destinations in UK and Europe

But remember Jet2 are gonig to be entering a very difficult period. If they cant keep the cash flowing they could be next.

Looks like the impact on the airport will be greater than I expected!

We have only lost the Belfast City flights.
The Stobart flights reffered to are the flights they operated on behalf of Flybe(ie Southend - Groningen which I flew a few years ago in ATR72 EI-REL in Flybe colours).

The Stobart flights from LBA are operated on behalf of Aer Lingus and are carrying on as usual
At least this morning's Dublin flight operated as usual

I seriously doubt that figure.

Rough figure

BHD x 32-33
NQY x 2-3

Will Eastern carry on the SOU flight?
Yeh and they are usuing the Embraer 170 on this afteronn flight
Lots of paxs at Southampton I would imagine trying to get to Manchester/Newcastle etc

Of more concern to LBA, and other airports and airlines, will be the words spoken this morning from the Chief Medical Officer who said that the virus probably can't be contained and that we will now be entering a delay phase (rather than the current containment phase) which means that the numbers caught up and affected by the virus will almost certainly rise.

Does this mean that aviation programmes will be one of the next to be hit? If so then passenger numbers will be hit, as airline and airport profitability will suffer as we hunker down and try and ride out the c virus storm. I think we are in for a difficult few months and talk of airlines being expansionist to take advantage of the Flybe demise is probably wide of the mark. Cancellations are more likely to be the order of the day.

Well its not that far wide of mark, Loganair have just announced its taking over 16+ ex Flybe operated routes.

This is an extract from my local paper, re Flybe. "The airline operated routes from Leeds Bradford Airport and had planned to run 2,500 flights a week from there during the summer of 2020"
357 flights a day I suggest above the normal daily movements from the airport.
The paper normally prints rubbish, but reached a new level here.
Yet many will believe what they read and its all over social media, worried about the survival of the airport, dont they employ proof readers any more.

Are you suggesting that the c virus won't have any effect on published flying programmes and that airlines can look forward to a rosy Spring and Summer and won't be affected at all by the current medical situation we are faced with?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
