Looks like the 2Excel 727’s may be relocating to Southend. I wonder if their other fleets will be following.
The other fleets went to Humberside & Lasham. From what I heard they are happy with the provision at Humberside. But I think long term aspirations is to have them altogether again, which would mean some big hangar(s) required wherever they go.

The Airport press release is saying passenger numbers for:
June 25,666
July 24,781

I expect their main reasoning for boltholing at Humberside is the proximity of their office and ops function at Finningley. Should they plan to vacate Finningley then I would expect they’d look to consolidate in one location - aside from Lasham and Sywell of course.

Yes Pug, it also helps not having staff to relocate all the time. So they can take their time, see what definately is going to happen with Finningley if it reopens they will regroup there. If not then a new permament home would be required preferably to house all the fleets in one location under one roof so to speak.

June 2023 stats for summer routes

TUI Antalya - 71% LF 128 pax
Ryanair Alicante - 92% LF 177 pax
Balkan Bourgas - 92% LF 166 pax
Ryanair Corfu - 78% LF 147 pax
Ryanair Palma - 88% LF 166 pax
TUI Palma - 97% LF 183 pax

Are those load factors good or not? I suppose it’s yield that counts?
However the Antalya and one Bulgarian flight are withdrawn for next year so I suppose that tells us something ?

As far as I'm lead to believe it is only one flight a week to Bourgas next year instead of twice a week this year.

Antalya has been swapped for Dalaman next year.

How does next summer compare with this year? Will there be a significant increase?

At the moment..one more Alicante, one less Burgas and Turkey remains the same with Dalaman replacing Antalya .

So no significant increases..
Thats very disappointing. I was hoping this summers bookings would prove the demand was there and we would see lots more flights. Presumably neither Tui, Ryanair nor Balkan have seen sufficient passengers, despite reports of full flights.

Don't forget, that airlines don't have spare aircraft and crews sitting around waiting to be put onto routes. Low cost airlines need to get high utilisation from their aircraft and in order to open new routes, it may mean pulling aircraft off other routes. It then comes down to which routes generate the most yield.

Yes a full flight counts for nothing if all seats are sold at a £1 each. Ok I exaggerate but yield is absolutely vital. One area I could possibly see MME growing would be as a result of other airports being at capacity - as many are. If airlines want to expand they may then have to look at alternative airports

At the moment next summer isn't fully finalised yet.

TUI
Palma twice week
Dalaman once week

Balkans
Bourgas once week (down from twice this year)

Ryanair
Haven't got their Summer 24 timetable out yet.
Alicante three times week from end of October this year (up from twice week)
Palma twice week
Faro twice week
Corfu once week

It is expected at least two new routes for next year to be announced September/ October time.

Who knows we could be in for a surprise.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
