"has our friend misread the situation again"
Seeing that a few people have seen that increased easyJet activity on slot requests may be you should be saying that ALL the members including at least 1 moderator have misread the situation?

David, I'm glad you picked up on what I felt was an unnecessary and unjustified jibe by Ian. The situation at MAN is complex due to the TP work and the fact that 9 based MON a/c were at T2. Terminal allocations of new based a/c by other carriers is not straightforward. Some of us are trying to "read" what's going on. Others may have more informed knowledge of what is likely to happen with easyjet.

I know that there has been some discontent over the last few weeks however I must ask that there is no more 'name calling' on this or any of the threads.

I appreciate that sometimes our enthusiasm can get the better of us, however please remember that politeness costs nothing. This is aimed at all those involved - and you know who are - so please let us have no more provocation from any members.

Any posts I consider to be unacceptable will be deleted without warning.

Thank you for your understanding.

According to User001 on the other forum there is now only slots for 14 based aircraft for Easyjet for this summer.

You will also have seen easyflyer83's post that he has no knowledge of even a 14th based a/c, only the 13th previously announced (and presumably reflected in their current summer schedules). I suspect he/she is a cabin crew member but may or may not be fully in the picture.

Which feels a lot more realistic bearing in mind the TP work

This is absolutely wrong. The TP construction site is entirely safeguarded from those areas used by the travelling public.

Terminal 2 was wholly capable of coping with nine based Monarch A320/1 [2+7] sized aircraft last Summer and remains so now. That was always the plan. The temporary gate lounge was constructed with this in mind and is fully-operational. As far as I am aware, services to four Spanish destinations operated by Jet2 will shortly move across to T2. The rest of the T2 operation appears to be broadly "as you were" since the Monarch failure. So, to me, it looks like the void within that facility has not come close to being filled. Retailers and catering concession holders based in T2 can expect to see a significant shortfall in takings. They won't be happy. MAG will be under pressure from them to even things up again viv-a-vis burgeoning throughput in T1 and T3. Those two will be bursting at the seams this Summer.

I agree EGCC_MAN. If we do end up with just 2 extra based easyjet a/c, or even only 1, it will be extremely disappointing in the light of those lost 9 based MON a/c, and the terminal allocations very unsatisfactory.

Some did raise questions as to how easyjet would secure the extra a/c and flight deck crew, as well as cabin crew and their training, given what was happening with Air Berlin. Those may well turn out to have been legitimate concerns. Bearing in mind that MON ceased on 30 Sep. perhaps it can be assumed that MAN was not at the top of Easy's priority list despite a declaration of intent with all those additional slot requests, albeit some duplicated for both T1 and T2.

Somehow, 3 additional Ryanair a/c have been accommodated at T3 so MAN were evidently keen to be as helpful as possible within capacity constraints, particularly with the loss of MON. A bit of an aside, but I'd be curious how talks went between MAN and easyjet and whether there was any incentive to move part of their operation to T2 as has happened with Jet2. (we don't know for sure whether there was an incentive for Jet2 but they are moving flights to 4 destinations).

Are you not forgetting the extra Jet2,Tui and Thomas Cook which add up to about 13 aircraft
when you add Ryanair and Easy in

Not sure how you get to 13. The figures I saw mentioned were something like 2 each for Jet2 and TCX and 1 for TUI.(and I can't confirm those are correct if one or two are really spare, back-up a/c). Add the 3 for Ryanair and it's 8. If easyjet are down to 1 or 2 extra, then we're looking at a maximum of 10.

MON you recall had 9 based, but I think some of the growth of the other carriers was planned before MON ceased flying.

Out of interest, when was easyJet's original slot application 'put in' (the one indicating up to 18? based aircraft).

Without having traveled through MAN for a long time I can't be sure, but most airports have the same retailers in their departure lounges. So whilst a certain store in T2 might see a shortfall in passengers now, the same retailer might be seeing a much larger than anticipated throughput in T1/3 now.

Are there no airlines with smaller bases at MAN or foreign airlines that fly into MAN that could be moved from T1 to T2? For instance Lufthansa/Eurowings have 84 weekly departures between them (54 & 30 respectively). Would there be enough space at T2 for one of both of them to move across and would that provide enough extra capacity for easyJet to expand at T1?

Don't suppose a lot of airlines are over keen on aiding Easyjet's expansion, good opportunity for someone to twist MAG's arm and get some very favourable incentives.

I'm sure MAG could persuade other airlines to move to T2 now with the promise of them being the first to use the new parts of T2 when they open.

Just been having a look at the timetable. Currently 12 based is all that is required.
Nothing so far to suggest 13 based let alone 14 plus

Flew Manchester-Athens over the weekend on EZY1947/48. Of course Aegean would have been my first choice but not available on the days I needed to fly.

Full flight both outbound and inbound in what is essentially "low season". Brilliant to see Athens doing well with two carriers - a brilliant route to have, especially when other UK airports like Edinburgh only have a token service, and Birmingham doesn't have any.

That's whay folks from the West Midlands have to go to Manchester for Athens and lots of other services. Basically easyjet have no interest in a BHX base.

Folks from the West Mdlands are heading predominately to Heathrow not Manchester. We can see through your agenda .

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
