Stansted Airport hits new heights for take-off times

BOSSES at Stansted Airport are on cloud nine after setting a new record for the number of flights taking off on time.

According to new figures published by the Civil Aviation Authority today (Friday, March 16), 85 per cent of journeys from the Uttlesford hub were on schedule in 2011 - the best performance since the Queen opened the new terminal building in 1991.

This represents an 11-per-cent increase on 2010 and is higher than the 71 per cent achieved 21 years ago.

It also saw the biggest performance increase of any UK airport in the final quarter of last year, with 16 per cent more flights taking off than in the same period in 2010

Stansted Reports Summer Passenger Traffic Rise

London Stansted Airport says it is the fastest growing airport in London following a 7.2% increase in passenger numbers in the last 12 months.

The airport says it highlights the important role that it will play in meeting UK air traffic demand over the next 10-15 years.

More than two million passengers were handled in August 2014, up 11.6% on last year, and the third consecutive month of double-digit growth, and helped boost the annual number of travellers using Stansted to more than 18.9 million.

The passenger stats for January have been published and they are down 22% to 1 505 368. Surely this can't be correct.

The passenger stats for January have been published and they are down 22% to 1 505 368. Surely this can't be correct.
They also show a drop of 26.7% in air transport movements compared with January 2019. The two taken together are feasible but whether the atms and passenger numbers did drop to that degree does seem questionable without knowing details of STN's operations in January this year vis-a-vis January 2019.

With thanks to Ian for keeping this thread open. I thought I would now add a little meat to the bones that he has been providing and, with luck, I will manage to include this in my monthly review of various airport statistics.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
