Great to hear and I hope we see more from them soon!

However, if what I have read on another forum is correct, EZY have to be very careful if they want to start the likes of AMS, CDG, MXP and TXL, since Flybe's future is in doubt, and EZY will have to show the competition watchdogs that they can operate profitably on BE routes and are not just "price dumping" to help push BE out of business.

Probably explains why those slots on AMS/CDG were returned.

Hi there all, I think a few more juicey routes is what is needed to get those seats sold, because once easyJet see how quickly seats can sell at Birmingham Airport, who knows the next phase maybe... Andyc
easyJet are one of those brands that simply sell. They will be wise to expand and open a base at BHx and fill the gaps left by others on city to city routes. Leave the plastic bucket and spade stuff to others. Looking good.

Well the demise of Flybe is an opportunity for them.
This has to be the time but there could be several factors that work against it, coronavirus and their available aircraft capacity. If they don't take it up then we may have to wait for a long period of time in the future.
There will be other potential bases that they may choose over BHX so the commercial deal will be critical. There is a handful of airports that will be desperate so sharpen pencils now !!

EasyJet dont have the spare aircraft to open bases. At MAN they have to lease in 2 aircraft just to pounce on the slots, and easyjet don't like leasing.

Then add in the current corona slump, and the rather niche aircraft to route profile nature imif Flybe, this collapse has happened at literally the worst possible time in terms of backfill oppertunities.

It's going to be a very tough few months. Yes, some backfill will occur, but don't expect and knight in shining armour scenarios like Air Berlin, Monarch or Thomas Cook.

A good point about easyjet not having spare a/c. What they may look at is whether they could conceivably make more money on a few of the lost flybe routes than on some of their more marginal European services or where frequencies could be cut slightly.

That said, I think it's likely meanwhile we'll see more pruning of services until COVID-19 is on the wain if not eradicated.

Next available seat to BFS is Monday lunchtime and is currently priced at £190.99 one way.

Next available seat from BFS is Wed morning and is currently priced at £343.99 one way.

Yes they have - big time !
#@£&?!'s. Capitalism stinks sometimes. Sour taste for easyJet from now on.
I did a post earlier in the BRS easyJet forum pointing out that easyJet have increased their fares on BRS-EDI by a huge degree no doubt taking advantage of the current lack of EDI flights from EXT, CWL and BHX. With MAN also EDI-less at the moment the only other competition on EDI comes from the London airports and Loganair at East Midlands.

Some sectors on BRS-EDI and on BRS-GLA next week are over £300 with 20 of the 52 sectors already shown as sold out.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
