Might be just me but it feels like BHX are giving easyjet more publicity than I've ever noticed before. Long may it continue (y)

Do Easyjet usually release their schedule in batches or would this suggest that they have been dropped?

Easyjet getting some very negative press in this article with other widespread cancellations over the last few days with IT issues and operational problems. Announced more than 200 cancellations from Gatwick this coming week

Easyjet: Youth footballers stranded after flight cancelled

A group of youth footballers set for a tournament in Birmingham have been left stranded at Belfast International Airport after their Easyjet flight was cancelled.
One parent with the group of 23 children said they were told about the cancellation around 45 minutes before the scheduled departure.
Barry Johnson told BBC News NI it had been a "nightmare of a day".
Easyjet has apologised and said it was doing all it could to assist the group.
It comes as the company announced it was cancelling more than 200 flights from London Gatwick over the next 10 days, a move which will affect airports across the UK.
When asked about the cancellation of Friday's flight from Belfast to Birmingham on Friday afternoon, the company said:"We're sorry that this group's flight was cancelled today.
"All customers on the flight have been provided with options to rebook or receive a refund, nonetheless we fully understand the disruption this will have caused to their plans and we are very sorry for this."
The flight was scheduled to depart Belfast at 13:20 BST carrying the group of 52 people, including the young footballers who play for Cliftonville Football Club in north Belfast.
The incident is the latest in a string of cancellations by Easyjet.
On Thursday, 12 flights were cancelled by the airline in and out of Belfast International.
"We left in good time, the flight wasn't until 13:20 and we got there for about 11:00," Mr Johnson said.
"Everything was going grand to start with until it showed the flight was cancelled.
"The man who organised it was traumatised and when he said the flight was cancelled, I thought he was joking - nobody had the heart to tell the kids."
The youngsters are scheduled to play at a youth tournament in Birmingham on Saturday morning.

Mr Johnson said the kids were "hungry and bored" after waiting in the airport over six hours
Mark Dornan, another adult travelling with the group, said after the flight was cancelled, they were taken downstairs to the check-in area where he thought they would be moved to another flight.
But he said the "door was closed" behind them and that no-one was available at the Easyjet desk to assist them.
"Easyjet has abandoned us and now we're going to have to use our own money to buy a new flight," Mr Dornan said earlier on Friday.
He was also worried the children would not make the tournament.
"It's tomorrow morning - registration is 09:00 so if we don't get a flight today it [the tournament] won't be happening," Mr Dornan said.
Meanwhile, Mr Johnson has praised Belfast International Airport staff and Swissport who helped rebook the group on three separate flights.
They have been booked on three new flights to Gatwick Airport in London, where they will then get the train to Birmingham.
"The kids haven't eaten since 10:30 so they're just hungry and bored at this point," Mr Johnson said.
"The kids are just kicking a ball about the airport, trying to keep themselves occupied."

I agree it’s negative but I’ll be honest as long as it doesn’t disrupt BHX I don’t think we should pay too many attention. Easyjet doesn’t have a west mids active demographic & because of that I don’t think it will dent their reputation. As long as BHX services continue I don’t see a problem. Honestly I think BHX is there biggest opportunity & I just hope they seize it

Does that imply that the A321 will be used to BHX, or that they will free up A320's for the new routes?

Kevin

Not sure on that one.

It'd be nice to see an A321 but they may decide to put them on more established routes and give BHX an A320.

Either way it's great to see another new route from easyjet. Hopefully Paris and Milan to follow in due course :)

I wonder why Orly when they have a bigger presence at CDG. Is it to take the competition to Vueling?

easyJet announces new route from Birmingham to Lisbon

JULY / 28 2022
  • The airline has confirmed a new route from Birmingham to Lisbon will take off from 2 November 2022
  • Seats will go on sale 15th August on easyJet.com and via the mobile app
  • New route becomes easyJet’s 10th route from Birmingham
  • This winter easyJet will be the number one carrier between the UK and Portugal
easyJet, the UK’s largest airline, has announced a new route from Birmingham to Lisbon in Portugal which will take off this winter. The new route comes following new services from the airport to Nantes, Faro, Malaga and Palma de Mallorca, which took off for the first time earlier this summer.

Flights to Lisbon are scheduled to take off from Birmingham from 2 November 2022 with departures twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays, providing a convenient direct connection for customers in the midlands to enjoy a city break to Portugal’s cosmopolitan capital this winter. Seats go on sale on easyJet.com and via the mobile app from 15th August.

In recent months, easyJet’s operations in Birmingham have seen sustained growth, and the airline now serves customers in Birmingham and surrounding area via ten airports in the UK and Europe, connecting to city, ski, and beach destinations via Belfast, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Amsterdam, Geneva, Palma, Malaga, Faro, Nantes - and now Lisbon.

This winter the airline will be the number one carrier between the UK and Portugal, offering more seats than any other airline and more choice for customers when it comes to picking a winter break.

Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK Country Manager said:
“As the UK’s largest airline, we are delighted to announce yet another new route from Birmingham today. We remain focused on offering more choice and great value for our customers in the Midlands, whether they are travelling on their holidays, visiting friends and family, or for business, and I would like to thank our fantastic customers for choosing to fly with easyJet.”

Edging ever nearer a base perhaps, there's a so much potential for them.

It would be odd if they weren't at least considering a base given their route expansion over the last few years.

Hopefully its a case of adding these routes to raise awareness that easyJet fly from BHX, so that when they do open a base people actually choose easyJet.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
