Have Monarch got an aircraft to operate the 13:45 Tenerife today?

I've noticed that G-ZBAA went over to Manchester this morning and operated the Munich flight. I presume this will then do the W-leg to Leeds from Munich or will the outbound Munich from LBA and inbound to Manchester be cancelled and the aircraft will stay at LBA for the Tenerife flight.

LBA based G-ZBAA positioned to MAN this moring and will operate the MAN-MUC-LBA rotations before going onto operate this afternoons LBA-TFS-LBA rotations as planned.

Also this afternoon a BHX based aircraft will be positioning into LBA empty to operate the delayed LBA-MUC-MAN rotations.

Monarch G-ZBAB will be flown MAN-TLS on 18th April to be accepted by Monarch.

Not likely to stay at MAN long before heading over to LBA as no A320 are based at MAN so unlikely to be used for flights there.

Leeds comapres favourably to MAN, when you take cost of getting there and car parking etc into consideration when you are comparing a fare for one person. If you are a family for four and KLM are charging around £250.00 return it's not such a good deal any more. Incidentally KLM's fare from MAN seems to be cheaper than from Leeds in any case.

Real problem is though that Vienna is totally the wrong end of the country for the Alps, Salzburg is perfect and Munich second best.

I will have a look at buying four seat to Innsbruck, but 've not had much luck there in the past as even if seats are available they are exepensive.

Very rare I do not pay the extra and fly from Leeds- I live in Otley so I dont even have to worry about car parking at LBA (Taxi is less than a tenner) but sometimes its just that bit too expensive.

With Monarch recently deciding to drop the planned 3x weekly Munich route for the summer season they have had make some changes to the 2x based Airbus A320's aircraft weekly flying programme.

Maybe a slightly longer wait for G-ZBAB to head over to LBA.

It seems to have been pressed into service at MAN, which is odd given MAN is not an A320 base and not short of airframes, but, should hopefully move over to its new base soon.

Don't MAN have 2 a320s? Looking at flight stats it looks as though they require 2. G-ZBAB maybe covering for G-OZBY as that is still tech after suffering major problems on the 10th April during crew training up at Prestwick

MAN doesn't have any A320 based in Summer (from March 26th).

The only A320 flights are a LTN/BHX A320 to perform a W pattern from GIB as GIB cannot handle the A321.

Do you mean 26th April? if so, that would explain it because currently there's G-MRJK and G-ZBAB at MAN.

Its meant to be march but maybe there has been a slight lag in transition.

Im assuming ZBAB is only at MAN due it being delivered there and not required at LBA yet.

There could be a slight lag in transition as the GIB flights are still been operated by Manchester based aircraft.

Anyone know when ZBAB will be required at LBA?

I understand that A320, G-ZBAB is due to position into Leeds next Tuesday as the 2nd based aircraft is needed in operation from next Wednesday. May 1st

I wouldn't be surprised to find that G-ZBAB is covering for the current tech Manchester based A321, G-OZBY which suffered an under carriage problem after a hard land a few weeks ago while doing some crew training up at Prestwick

According to the aviation herald, it had a shock absorber fault in the landing gear which led to the autothrottle being disconnected and the flight director failing

Monarch Airlines MD Kevin George has hinted at further expansion and predicted annual passenger numbers will rise from 200,000 to 300,000 next year as published in this mornings Yorkshire Post, The growth was expected to be driven by a combination of new routes and more frequent flights to its current destinations.

Monarch predicts 50pc rise in passengers from airport

THE managing director of Monarch Airlines yesterday predicted that its annual passenger numbers from Leeds-Bradford Airport could rise from 200,000 to 300,000 next year.

Kevin George, Monarch’s MD, said the growth was expected to be driven by a combination of new routes and more frequent flights to its current destina- tions.

Mr George said that many UK consumers were protecting their leisure spending, and, in some cases, deciding to spend money on a holiday while making economies elsewhere.

Last year, Monarch revealed that it planned to create up to 200 jobs at Leeds-Bradford, after naming it as its sixth UK base.

The airline is introducing 12 new routes this year, and it has also decided to run its winter service to Munich all-year round.

The new list of services, which are primarily aimed at leisure travellers, include scheduled flights to Barcelona, Rome, Larnaca (Cyprus) and Tenerife.

Mr George, who was visiting Leeds Bradford to welcome the airline’s new recruits, said yesterday: “We believe that the West Yorkshire and Leeds area provides an excellent customer base for Monarch’s products.

“Combined with Leeds Bradford airport, we will provide great service for customers in Leeds and West Yorkshire.”

He said Monarch was still seeing “excellent demand” despite the tough economic climate, with good levels of bookings.

The new flights from Monarch started in March.

The roles created as a result of the announcement include jobs for pilots, baggage staff and airport personnel.

Mr George said he would like to see the jobs going to local people.

Last year, John Parkin, the chief executive of Leeds-Bradford, said that improvements under way at the airport were behind its success in attracting new airlines, including Monarch.

British Airways (BA) revived services between Leeds Bradford and Heathrow in December, after a gap of more than 30 years.

Earlier this year, BA’s chief executive, Keith Williams, said that BA expected to improve links between Leeds-Bradford and the world’s fast growing economies in the coming years.

Mr Williams made the comments during a speech at the Leeds York & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce’s annual dinner at the Queens Hotel in Leeds.

BA’s Flights to and from Leeds-Bradford recently moved from Terminal 1 at Heathrow to the flagship Terminal 5.

Positive article. Shame the CEO doesn't know his own companies schedule however:

and it has also decided to run its winter service to Munich all-year round.

That's why it has been cut from all UK bases this summer, including LBA?

The line you have selected isn't in speech marks and therefore wasn't a quote from the CEO. The line was inserted by the journalist who had padded the article out with material from the library of recent press releases about MON and LBA. To be fair to the journalist, it wasn't that long ago that MON were publicising the MUC service as being year round, so a fair assumption to make when writing the piece.

Hope that clarifies

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
