Monarch have a positioning flight on Sunday morning 04:50 from East Midlands, I presume it will be G-ZBAB

On the LBA web site it has a nice new advert about the monarch sale which advertises Alicante as a destination from leeds I guess this is a mistake?

Looking on the Monarch website, they have the same advert but says Barcelona instead, so unfortunately I think it is a mistake.

ITV Saturday Nite Takeaway

A reverse bungee jump is now in position for the Ant & Dec Saturday Nite Takeaway programme live Orlando give-away in association with Monarch Airlines.

I spoke to a member of the TV crew today who said they were planning up to half-an-hour of air-time on the prime time ITV show.

MON265P G-MONJ - has switched on its transponder and is taxing for Departure to Leeds as we speak :)

G-MONJ has just landed at LBA! with a nice Ant and Dec livery! I'm excited to see what footage ITV get of the airport and the airplane tonight!

I understand ITV have positioned cameras in several places around the airport for tonight's show.

I have to be honest, normally don't watch such garbage television but hey...

Its my local airport
Its a Monarch 757
Its Monarchs Birthday
Its a Florida flight from LBA!!

I will tune in on this occasion :)

Anyone able to confirm the routing for tonights flight.

I am sure first thing this morning the airport website said St Johns/Sanford,whereas now just says Orlando Sanford.

I would be very surprised if it can make it all the way to Sanford direct, even with a limited capacity. New York yes but Sanford is pushing it.

My guess is it will need to do a fuel stop en-route and St Johns seems like an obvious choice, it may be that for PR reasons ITV/Monarch have asked that the FIDS just show Orlando Sanford.

I've just checked the St John's website and it's not showing on their arrivals or departures.

Based on the normal configuration of a Monarch 757 - according to their own website..

They can operate the aircraft up to 5,630km

The distance from LBA to SFB 6,813km

So as you can see that is some 1,183klm shy... I don't know the finalised load and performance limitations of today's departure but I doubt they can shed enough weight to gain those 1000+km on a direct leg with this old, non winglet 757.

Its going to have to take a pit stop somewhere and its not uncommon for airports not to display technical stops on its main FIDS.

Watched it arrive this aft, a little later than schedule and just watched it on tv and pop up over the trees over horsforth. Kudos for LBA!!!

I didn't realise I knew the Tower Controller from my old Air Cadet days... It's a small world. Great P.R. For LBA!

Well, they pulled it off!

Hats off to Monarch, ITV, LBA & Swissport for not screwing it up!!! lol

It was nice to see LBA on national TV :)

It was probably organised out of LBA for a number of reasons,

Quiet airport & airspace on this date & time, ITV Studios & Resources down the road - and the reason it was not shouted from the roof tops by LBA or Monarch that it was departing from here was to prevent mass public descending upon the airport and causing issues. Now that it has happened I am sure you will see some mention.

To put on a live show and cover the departure of a trans altlantic flight from an airport that doesn't usually have them, with an airline using an aircraft they don't normally use is no easy feat and job well done I say.

I did however notice that the VIP seats rumoured did not feature on board - it was defiantly the standard seats (unless the inside shot with previous competition winners was filmed on an earlier day on a generic aircraft).

It must have had the Ant & Dec sticker slapped on in Birmingham the other day.

Now all we have to do is convince LBA, A tour operator and an Airline that a weekly trans atlantic using the 757 can happen !!!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
