Looks like Ryanair has scrapped LBA flights then for summer 2021.

Let's hope you not jumping to conclusions. As far as aware I the full summer 2021 scheduled hasnt being fully released yet so the is still hope for LBA base and its crews.

Just taking an inital look shows the moring Dublin (FR153/152) rotation still being operated by an LBA based aircraft next summer 2021.

Got an email from Ryanair yesterday saying flights available to book for summer 2021. I had a quick look at the Ibiza flights for next summer from LBA and noticed that they don’t start till June/July which normally they would start April/May. Anyway I have another look this morning and all the flights to Ibiza have disappeared. Not checked any other destination yet. There are still flights showing from East Midlands to Ibiza but down to weekly so big cutback.

Ryanair website not showing nay flights available to book for S20/W20/S21 from LBA as ive just looked

I actually think this is less to do with Ryanair's ability to fill their aircraft from Leeds and more to do with LBA's ability to enable social distancing in current facilities.

The government is likely to stipulate rules airlines and airports must follow. This will severely hinder the airports ability to return to a pre covid norm with severely restricted facilities.

Staggered departure times for all airlines would be a sensible approach. Surely some analyst will do some big fancy sum to work out what is the maximum capacity of a terminal if all people did social distancing, then you include boarding for flights, gates etc. Queuing for flights etc.

LBA nightmare of a baggage hall will not be pleasant. I bet that we will see bags been put out into the carousels first and a staggered let through off passengers. Controlled by boarder force.

The above doesn't mean other airports will have it easy either. Manchester is fortunate to have a substantial new facility where it can space passengers out but it will also be operating massively below capacity.

If I am correct in my thinking LBA will need to offer round the clock departures to maintain any kind of half decent service.

Better get that new terminal built then i say to create a more spacious airey feel! Even with all that's going on at the moment its still beneficial to continue with plans because once things get back to normal if nothing happens at LBA we will be just stuck with the same old terminal, lack of growth and just the same old story!

Liverpool are better equipped from a departures point of view, although it is limited by having to bus and arrivals will need to be re thought out.

It's a massive test for the owners. Their largest cash cow is having eyes made at them by the airport down the road. With Ryanair gone and Jet2 looking at options away from Yeadon they might end up with a new terminal with no passengers. Or it might all go to plan and attract more airlines, or it might be a load of houses in a few years. Interesting times. The reset button has given a lot of people chance to think and maybe change direction.

DSA couldn't handle an operation the size of what Jet 2 have at LBA there isn't the stand capacity to start with.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
