Please can we avoid any speculation on Tom leaving, the reasons he has done so are completely his own.

We all thank him for what he has done during his time at BHX and wish him every success in the future.

Let’s hope whoever takes over comes in with a bang & lots of new announcements

Hopefully, although going forward substantial growth may be a tough ask as the terminals get ever closer to capacity. Lets hope that the updated master plan is a juicy one as the last version was very underwhelming.

Totally agree. Whatever the reasons were it should be respected.

Alex Johnson has also left bhx.Good luck to him

Just out of curiosity looked some of todays departures and noticed that EasyJet have 24 departures today while Jet2 have 20 early signs of changing times maybe? Meanwhile TUI only 14 although that does include 3 787s and unsurprisingly Ryanair lead the pack with 33 departures

With both Ryanair and EasyJet adding an extra based next summer BHX looks like becoming more and more a LCC dependent airport in the coming years as the IT carriers TUI &Jet2 face ever increasing competition from EasyJet and Ryanair.

Just an observation.

Edit: Maybe this is not the correct thread ?

Sign of the times I guess and not unique to BHX, It'll be sad if the rise of easyjet and Ryanair force others off some routes but those two are where the growth is going to come from.

With BHX terminal constraints I'd love to see some more away based flights utilising the quieter periods of the day, sometimes when I drive past mid-morning T2 is completely empty. I guess airline scheduling is a complicated business and there are many airports all after the same thing.

Sad to hear about Eastern Airways to be on the brink of collapse. All flights cancelled today. Whilst not currently using BHX, It continues the struggles we have seen in recent years fir regional airlines.

Just to add a little more to the interview the XLR deliveries mean USA is 2-3 years away at least. NY the first target then Chicago. Apparently the case is made as there are circa 500 pax per day heading to NY from this region.

When asked about a direct service to the far east he just said that BHX is well served with Turkish, Emirates, Qatar etc so either playing his cards close to his chest or more likely it's a while away.

The runway at EMA will be closed for lighting works on most Wednesdays from 10th December until mid February between 10:00 and 18:00hrs. maybe some interesting movements coming up for BHX?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
