Does anyone know anything about a new handling agent starting?
I believe it is called Premiere Handling, and so far has the BMIR contract and looks also to have won the Air One contract.

I think they arrived in early February and are looking to build up.

I didn't realise that they had the BMIR and Air One contracts, it's great that they have and if they provide a good service word will quickly spread.

I needed to consult the departures information this morning and have seen that all flights since 0600 h for the last 2 hours have been delayed by 15-25 min and they haven't caught up. It's difficult to wonder what might affect all flights at the quiet end of the day. Can anyone offer a reason(s)?

Things start to pick up a little from tomorrow.

Monarch have 7 aircraft out of the 10 operating. Ryanair have 20 flights with half of them away based. Flybe have two Newquay flights and the French routes are returning with Bergerac and Rennes tomorrow. Norwegian Barcelona returns for summer. I think the rest are as you were, for now.

I spent a couple of hours over Sheldon Country Park today and the place was very busy with spotters, families and dog walkers. It would be great if they could add a refreshment stand and some toilets but that's another discussion.

The airport itself is starting to pick up again with departure queues stretching back, there was another joining the back of the line almost as soon as one left. There were even pilots moaning about the length of time they were waiting :)

A sure sign that summer is on it's way and it's going to be a good one (y)

I apologise in advance as I'll be spamming the picture thread either this evening or tomorrow ;)

With BHX now being Level 3 slot restrained the start of summer season report is out.

97.51% of the slots were cleared with 1912 slots adjusted. Of these 39 (2%) were runway constraints, 1525 (79.8%) were terminal constraints and 348 (18.2%) were due to arr/dep turn around feasibility.

Executive Summary

Summer 2017 will be the first season where BHX Airport will be redesignated from Level 2 to Level 3 coordination. As a result of this, a number of schedules which had previously operated in the peak periods as refused moves have been adjusted and there has been significant changes to terminal passenger throughput profiles.

BHX Airport allowed ACL to coordinate on a non-historic basis upto 5,000pax against the 2 Hour departure constraint. The runway and departure histograms contained within this report show how the "historic" schedule has been coordinated against the declared constraint of 4,800 pax per 2 hours.

Growth in both BHX based aircraft and in away based airlines operating "slot 2" flights through BHX, has seen increased pressure put on the lunchtime and early afternoon scheduling limits compared to previous years.

Terminal Constraints

- The newly introduced T60/15 DEP constraint has been the main reason for adjustment in the 0500-0625z period.

- The T120/15 constraint has been the main reason for adjustment for in the 0430-0655z period.

- The ammended international arrival constraints in T1I (changed to rolling constraints) appear to be smoothing arrivals around the lunchtime period

Arr/Dep Turnaround Feasibility

-
A small number of Arrivals and Departures have been adjusted to maintain requested ground times.

Air India didn't apply for any extra slots so remain at 14 weekly movements.

Blue Air go from 4 to 20 weekly movements.

Flybe are +28 weekly movements.

Jet2 show 117.

Monarch are +18.

Norwegian -12.

Vueling +24.

Everything else route wise I think we already knew except Freebird doing a weekly scheduled Antalya and someone called Lipican Air plan a 3x weekly Waterford from May?

Obviously slots requests are only that, requests, and quite often things do not come to fruition. It's interesting though.

Such an amazing insight into actual growth at BHX and uncovers the spin of many press releases these days...

some elements I found particularly interesting....

- Summer season runs from 26th March - 28th October 2017 (near identical to last year)

- The summer season will see an additional 1,411,345 seats being provided to BHX this summer season compared to last, a massive jump of +14.1%

- if we can expect passenger levels to grow at a similar proportion, this would put the potential 2017 years figure at circa 13,285,000 which would be amazing growth!!!

The top 5 airlines out of BHX with passenger numbers are as follows:

1) Flybe
+271 slots for S2017
1.91m seats for S2017 (-13,000 / -0.7%)

2) Ryanair
+1,397 slots for S2017
1.64m seats for S2017 (+264,200 / +19.2%)

3) Monarch
+563 slots for S2017
1.53m seats for S2017 (+126,800 / +9.1%)

4) Thomson
+442 slots for S2017
1.05m seats for S2017 (+87,500 / 9.1%)

5) Thomas Cook
+131 slots
0.64m seats in S2017 (+25,400 / 4.1%)

added to that, our brand new comer Jet2.com enters the BHX chart at No.7 (Behind Emirates) and will have a whopping 3,108 slots and provide 567,200 seats!!!

Hi all,

Just thought i'd put out a post asking for advice and if anyone is interested in being part of a photo project encapsulating Aviation Enthusiasts. Currently i'm in the process of putting together a photo book which shows the passion and commitment to logging and photographing Aircraft.
I'm currently basing it out of BHX. The project is backed by arts funding of Falmouth University and will eventually become a publication.
The response and enthusiasm so far has been fantastic. Out of the many Photo Documentaries i've worked on, i've never experienced such a welcoming community so my thanks goes out to all for that.

Thank you for your time and any questions you can contact me on

As it's April tomorrow a quick summary of the greatest hits.

Jet2 start Gran Canaria and Lanzarote tomorrow with Fuerteventura and Paphos starting on Sunday. They go a little quiet then until the 27th when Ibiza and Rhodes start followed by Girona (28th), Menorca and Reus (29th) and Heraklion (30th).

Monarch have new routes to Stockholm and Porto both starting on the 28th. Lisbon goes 5x weekly for April and towards the end of the month they bring back Madrid for the summer.

Czech Airlines go up to 6x weekly with the addition of the Tuesday flight and various airlines have extra flights added for the Easter Holidays.

Had a walk through to the viewing area today and even though it was the quieter mid morning period the terminals were very busy.

The Jet2 check in area looks great and the bright red really stands out. Thomas Cook have moved around the corner and now occupy the desks where the Star Alliance check in was previously. The Star Alliance is now further along the same row next to Turkish Airlines, which is now alongside the Qatar area. Aer Lingus also managed to squeeze in there. I also noticed that the new self service check in and bag drop is now open, although very few people were using it.

Thomas Cook, Thomson, Flybe and Pakistan all had lengthy queues. Vueling just had the last few stragglers arriving but the most impressive was Czech Airlines which had a queue stretching from T2 all the way down to M&S. It was also good to hear lots of Eastern European accents in the queue.

Walking up from T2 to the viewing area I noticed spray paint marking on the floor which I assume will be for the covered walkway to car hire.

Mr Kehoe - "There's lots more to come".

“It’s been a long journey,” he says, sitting in his office overlooking the runway. “If I look back at my first few weeks in the job in 2008 it was all rosy, and then came the crash. Since then we’ve been rebuilding to where we are today. There’s lots more to come, but I’m really pleased with progress, and feel our investment has been well spent.”

New routes/airlines or new infrastructure projects?

I also note his words about British Airways and his hope that if business travellers respond to their return he is convinced that BA will make more investment. A very good point was made that we don't want a pursuit of BA to be detrimental to existing or potential new airlines. If BA do ever show interest again then fair enough but I do hope that it's not get BA back at any cost.

It's a great article though, the man just oozes ambition (y)

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
