Not bad for the first week of this new route and in January and with bmir's fare prices, unless they offered some lead-in fares.22 pax on return flight into Bristol
Indeed. For the route to work it needs to be supported from both ends. Having had no Swedish routes, except for a few short summer seasons with SAS to ARN and one full summer season with them to OSL ten years ago, the airport finds itself within a few months of each other with two Swedish routes, year-round if they work out, to ARN and GOT.Very good as one would assume most of those 22 would be from Gothenburg
Looking at the times i don't think they tally up with BHX. The BHX return on Monday's departs at 16.45 5 mins before the BRS flight arrives and on Thursday's the departure from GOT is at 09.50. I think they'll operate a new route out of Gothenburg or they could be operating a 2 weekly charter somewhere for a company that requires a layover somewhere for the crew. Will be interesting to see what the route is.
Cardiff's shows all the codeshare's. Some say to make the airport look busier!I was looking at the arrival screens at BRS today and noticed that a bmi regional flight from Aberdeen was also carrying a Loganair flight code. The airport's website arrivals and departures pages only seem to show the flight code/flight number of the operating airline but not partners, whereas many airport websites show several flight codes/flight numbers for the same flight.
Probably not too surprising as bmi regional and Loganair are under the same ownership.
I remember in the early days of WAN (Wales Air Network) which preceded WAF someone asked why CWL had so many flights to Amsterdam. He or she had looked at the website and had seen the code share flight numbers but hadn't realised it was the same flight.Cardiff's shows all the codeshare's. Some say to make the airport look busier!
Maybe BRS has decided to change what it displays on the arrival/departure board as i'm sure some people would be looking for a Loganair flight and not a BMI flight.
I'll be honest when i first started flying i looked at the departures board and went Wow! Air Kenya fly from Cardiff Airport!I remember in the early days of WAN (Wales Air Network) which preceded WAF someone asked why CWL had so many flights to Amsterdam. He or she had looked at the website and had seen the code share flight numbers but hadn't realised it was the same flight.
LHR shows all the code share on its website so CWL is in good company.
They did and both daily for a while which was overkill (will Venice be next with Ryanair upping to daily from 4 x weekly next winter and easyJet operating daily this winter - will U2 back down?), but BRS then went from feast to famine with easyJet pulling out of MXP and Ryanair dropping to 3 x weekly on BGY. At least they retained the year-round service.Do not forget that Ryanair already flies to Milan bergamo and the last time Ryanair and easyJet battled it out on the Milan route it was easyJet who lost. Perhaps Ryanair could be tempted to either increase its current service or transfer it to mxp . I think if easyJet had wanted to launch Mxp then they would have by now
Milan Malpensa
bmir booking engine shows MXP reduced to 2 x weekly for the coming summer - on Saturdays and Sundays only.
Perhaps a corporate shuttle again on Mon and Fri for Leonardo although I don't know whether reorganisation of this aviation group has reduced the demand for West Country-Milan staff connectivity.Although it remains to be seen whether a more extensive service is resumed in the Autumn, this is a blow to the BRS strategy of enticing passengers away from LHR. Agree that daily services to major cities is a minimum requirement for such a strategy.
Perhaps the weekday flights will continue but only as a corporate shuttle?
However, there are suggestions elsewhere of BM services being reduced at other UK airports as well, which may be symptomatic of more fundamental issues, or a change in their strategy.
