22 pax on return flight into Bristol
Not bad for the first week of this new route and in January and with bmir's fare prices, unless they offered some lead-in fares.

Very good as one would assume most of those 22 would be from Gothenburg
Indeed. For the route to work it needs to be supported from both ends. Having had no Swedish routes, except for a few short summer seasons with SAS to ARN and one full summer season with them to OSL ten years ago, the airport finds itself within a few months of each other with two Swedish routes, year-round if they work out, to ARN and GOT.

Looking at the times i don't think they tally up with BHX. The BHX return on Monday's departs at 16.45 5 mins before the BRS flight arrives and on Thursday's the departure from GOT is at 09.50. I think they'll operate a new route out of Gothenburg or they could be operating a 2 weekly charter somewhere for a company that requires a layover somewhere for the crew. Will be interesting to see what the route is.

It appears that the reason for the rather weird scheduling is a new GOT/LYS/GOT service on Mon & Thurs 'under charter basis' which partly explains the following day return, but not the departure timing on the day in question.

I was looking at the arrival screens at BRS today and noticed that a bmi regional flight from Aberdeen was also carrying a Loganair flight code. The airport's website arrivals and departures pages only seem to show the flight code/flight number of the operating airline but not partners, whereas many airport websites show several flight codes/flight numbers for the same flight.

Probably not too surprising as bmi regional and Loganair are under the same ownership.

Cardiff's shows all the codeshare's. Some say to make the airport look busier!
Maybe BRS has decided to change what it displays on the arrival/departure board as i'm sure some people would be looking for a Loganair flight and not a BMI flight.

I remember in the early days of WAN (Wales Air Network) which preceded WAF someone asked why CWL had so many flights to Amsterdam. He or she had looked at the website and had seen the code share flight numbers but hadn't realised it was the same flight.

LHR shows all the code share on its website so CWL is in good company.

I'll be honest when i first started flying i looked at the departures board and went Wow! Air Kenya fly from Cardiff Airport! I soon realised my mistake!

bmir booking engine shows MXP reduced to 2 x weekly for the coming summer - on Saturdays and Sundays only. A year or two ago it was down to 3 x weekly including Monday and Friday, then increased in recent times. Leonardo (formerly Augusta Westland) workers use/used (don't they still?) the service at the beginning and end of the 'working week'. A coach would arrive at the airport from Yeovil.

I remember when bmir started their MXP route several years ago there were two MXP rotations on Mondays and Fridays. One was the public route and the other for Augusta Westland. In recent years aircraft workers have used the public route. I don't know what they will do in future.

Sat and Sun rotations suggests a leisure focus. I wonder what they have in mind.

I'll just shout my usual war cry on this subject - easyJet!!

Do not forget that Ryanair already flies to Milan bergamo and the last time Ryanair and easyJet battled it out on the Milan route it was easyJet who lost. Perhaps Ryanair could be tempted to either increase its current service or transfer it to mxp . I think if easyJet had wanted to launch Mxp then they would have by now

They did and both daily for a while which was overkill (will Venice be next with Ryanair upping to daily from 4 x weekly next winter and easyJet operating daily this winter - will U2 back down?), but BRS then went from feast to famine with easyJet pulling out of MXP and Ryanair dropping to 3 x weekly on BGY. At least they retained the year-round service.

There must be a market at BRS for at least a daily route to Milan by an aircraft of 320/738 size even with a mix of airlines and Milan airports, although that would not be my ideal solution. I'd like to see one airline operating at least daily to one Milan airport.

Although it remains to be seen whether a more extensive service is resumed in the Autumn, this is a blow to the BRS strategy of enticing passengers away from LHR. Agree that daily services to major cities is a minimum requirement for such a strategy.

Perhaps the weekday flights will continue but only as a corporate shuttle?

However, there are suggestions elsewhere of BM services being reduced at other UK airports as well, which may be symptomatic of more fundamental issues, or a change in their strategy.

Perhaps a corporate shuttle again on Mon and Fri for Leonardo although I don't know whether reorganisation of this aviation group has reduced the demand for West Country-Milan staff connectivity.

It's always a shame when any route reduces in frequency. BM's future moves are awaited with interest.

It's been mentioned that crew shortages could have resulted in a temporary suspension of some routes.

bmi expands its Bristol - Paris service

Additional flights on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, starting 14 May 2018

bmi has announced it will be expanding the Paris CDG service from its Bristol hub, with increased frequencies starting from 14 May 2018. The airline currently flies twice daily between Bristol and Paris but, in response to demand from customers, will be adding a further flight three times a week - on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

As of 14 May, the Bristol – Paris Charles de Gaulle route will operate as follows:

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday – 3 x daily
Tuesday and Friday – 2 x daily
Sunday – 1 x daily

The additional flights will offer improved convenience and flexibility for all customers, and particularly those travelling on business between Paris and the South West of England and South Wales.

This spring also marks five years of bmi’s successful Frankfurt and Munich routes from Bristol, which, since launching in March and May 2013 respectively, have grown consistently and become two of bmi’s hallmark services. Enabling business and leisure travellers from the South West to connect three times daily to Frankfurt and twice daily to Munich, the flights also have the advantage of allowing customers from the South West to continue their journey to destinations across Europe and further afield, via both bmi’s Munich and Frankfurt hubs and also its codeshare agreement with Lufthansa and Air Dolomiti.

Jochen Schnadt, Chief Commercial Officer of bmi, commented, “Providing a convenient, quality air link between the South West / South Wales and Europe’s most prominent business and leisure destinations has always been a priority for bmi, and we are delighted to continue to build the network at our Bristol base. Having consistently invested in our service offering from our Bristol hub, manifesting itself in increased frequencies on key business routes as well as new destinations such as our recently launched Bristol to Gothenburg service, we believe these additional flights between Paris and Bristol will offer our customers an even greater choice, with greatly improved convenience and flexibility, alongside the continued service, efficiency and value that our customers expect from bmi. With the strong affinity between the Paris Metropolitan region and the South West / South Wales, especially in the energy and aerospace industries space, increasing our service offering now to 14x weekly flights in either direction, we are looking to directly address our customers’ needs.”

Nigel Scott, Business Development Director, Bristol Airport said, “ We are delighted bmi regional will increase the capacity on flights between Bristol and Paris (Charles de Gaulle) airports. This will provide improved services to a European hub airport offering world-wide connections whether for business or leisure.”

bmi offers flights from Bristol to Paris from £70 one way. All fares are inclusive of 23kg of hold luggage, allocated seating, complimentary in-flight drinks and snacks and speedy 30 minute check-ins.

Very good news indeed although they have now dropped the Saturday service

An excellent addition to CDG, especially bearing in mind the current discussion in the easyJet thread about unfulfilled demand on the route. I hope bmir becomes more reliable and is able to rid itself of its reputation for cancelling flights.

A couple of years ago a senior member of bmir's parent company was talking about sourcing larger aircraft for some of its routes. BRS-FRA was specifically mentioned at that time as one of the routes requiring larger aircraft. FRA has been building since bmir took it on in 2013. These are the annual passenger numbers on BRS-FRA since 2013:

2013 15,978
2014 29,448
2015 44,026
2016 43,344
2017 49,342

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
