Here are 2 quite impressive facts for you.

For the month of Feb, Manchester was Cathays 4th best performing route out of 95 stations.

One particular flight in Feb set an internal Cathay record for highest cargo payload, and due to a completely full passenger cabin, set a highest overall payload record too. Apparently needed a LOT of runway to get up.

Makes you wonder what took them so long to serve the route!

Great news and yes indeed it does make one wonder why it took so long for this particular route to get up and running :ROFLMAO:

Just spoke to Catahy Pacifc to book a flight over to HongKong and the reply was " if your flying from Mancheter you may be out of look as flights are nearly full until Easter next year"

I'm shocked that passengers are booking in a year in advance as fares are pretty decent!
Furthermore this week and next week the flights are full with 3-4 seats left in Premium economy which I think will easily sell.

Also I asked if they knew about Air China starting flights to Manchester and the reply was yes we know that they will start flights to Mancheter but they aren't really fussed with them as Beijing is Mainland whilst Hong Kong is Mainly used for business ventures and trips!
Seems Cathay will have a fight on with Air China in the nearby future. :yahoo:

Hi Andy,
To be fair Cathay Pacific did say today that they have applied for another 3x weekly flights to China civil authority and they are waiting for that as flights are causing problems at Manchester as they are overbooked.
Also what's the romours you have heard Andy? :aggressive: :plums:

Hi Andy

What Vueling rumours had you heard. I've been working on a project regarding Vueling, so, will be interesting to know what's being said?

Hi User 001 welcome back missed your posts with information,Its from someone inside the airport i knew when i worked there i few years ago and been asked not to post in any groups or forums incase it dosnt happen and his job nightl be on the line.He told me the airport were in talks with AI in march time but keep it quiet only a few people knew at the time but it got leaked in May. :s_sorry

Just a very late flight.

Despite it being 7 hours late inbound, only 3 hours late leaving due to the long turn around at MAN.

Look so like Manchester will now be Cathays first A350 destination.

Daily flights from March 1st.

Ive been reading on another forum that there is a delay in Cathays A350s due to cabin furnishing,MAN was ment to be one of the first A350 routes, but if they start Gatwick flights in 2016/17 ive read they might have more priority over Manchester.

I'd have thought there would be more profitable routes for CX than MAN but the A350 and B787 are marketed as ideal for long haul routes with a relatively smaller market. I suspect in reality they will be used to generate additional profit but that may just be me.

Interesting about Gatwick. Whilst the airport clearly has a larger catchment than MAN, you would think its proximity to Heathrow would impact on its attractiveness to airlines. In this case the London to Hong Kong route is I beleive very well served by a number of airlines.

Still fingers crossed on the daily (or 8x weekly depending on what you hear) service.

Today is apparently the one year anniversary of the CX flight from MAN.

Seems to have been a good year for this route, long may it continue.

As it's specifically CX being discussed on the SQ thread, I've now switched.

Only a personal view, but I can't see CX going daily from MAN with a B777 which would mean a 75% increase in weekly seats on the current 4 flights. A daily A350 on the other hand, based on 280 seats, would result in a 44% increase. Given the extra stimulus a daily flight would give, particularly for business pax, in conjunction with the LF's already achieved, a daily A350 should be viable I would have thought.

We'll have to see how far down the pecking order MAN is.

They want to make it daily or 8x weekly but they have had crewing issues. They do very well in cargo so they might want to keep the B77W 4x weekly with the A350 adding the extra frequency.

I hope MAN is up there for European routes, but the proof is in the pudding.

Taken from my post on the SQ thread, here is the data for CX in 2015.

CX performance

In 2015 CX carried 124,172 PAX from MAN to HKG. This was the routes first full year of operations. It was 4x weekly on a 3 class B77W (no F) with 340 seats.

Based on this, they carried roughly 298 PAX per flight, representing a load factor of 88%. CX have been reportedly delighted with this, and want to make the route 8x weekly either with the B77W or A359. Crewing issues have frustrated that until 2017.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
