Moving the evening flight from 19:05 to 15:00 means it'll be difficult to do a day return to Cork but it should still be fine for those needing a day return in Greater Birmingham.

The Shannon service will now utilise the Cork aircraft, with a revised earlier departure from Cork at 15:00.

15:00 ORK - BHX 16:30/16:55 BHX - SNN 18:35/19:00 SNN - BHX 20:35/21:05 BHX - ORK 22:40 (SUN-FRI)

There is a new logo jet to look out for.
EI-DEO,formerly operated by Virgin Little Red,is now sporting a rugby world cup scheme.
When I am able I will post a picture of the aircraft.
With Birmingham staging a couple of matches at Villa Park,I am hoping we will see not just this aircraft at BHX but others that have been adorned with similar paint jobs.

Aer Lingus will increase seats on BHX-DUB by 14% for the winter with 6 flights per day on some days.

14pc more seats on its Dublin to Birmingham service with up to six flights daily, serving peak business traffic.

Ryanair seem to be getting increased competition from several directions with Norwegian and now Aer Lingus. I wonder if we'll see a reaction.

The EI flights will be split between Mainline and Regional, most likely 3 each or 4/2 to Mainline.

I thought we were already meant to have 3 daily mainline flights and 3 daily Regional flights?
When Regional launched DUB they did say they were going three daily if I recall. Perhaps one of those flights will be replaced by Mainline and that's where the extra seats will come from.

There was 3 mainline and 3 regional flights when they launched. At the moment there are 3x daily mainline (some days see 2x daily) and 2x daily EIR, so 4-5 daily.

Aer Lingus and Ryanair have been raising and dropping capacity from MAN and BHX for years, once one does it the other soon copies. They'll both probably be back to 4x daily by next summer 🙄

On my visit yesterday (Monday) I saw an extra Aer Lingus flight operated by A319 EI-EPR. The flight number was EI2268/9 and it showed as a scheduled flight on the screens.
According to FR24 there will be a fourth daily flight next Monday too.

There are several extra EI Mainline flights over the peak period. There are some scheduled throughout August too.

Air Canada are to codeshare on flights to regional airports including BHX next summer,allowing onward connections to YYZ from DUB.

Dublin is showing as 7x daily on a Thursday and Friday for winter.

The other days are still showing 6 flights with 4 on a Saturday.

Aer Lingus have given their approval to Cityjet's €80 million proposal to buy Stobart Air.

Wonder how this will work if it comes off seeing as Stobart already operate for Flybe. The ATR's will probably remain seeing as the SSJ100 is likely to be too large for UK-Ireland regional, but under what brand will they operate?

Stobart Air/CityJet merger has fallen through.

Although the Irish Times is reporting that CityJet pulled the plug after Stobart Air failed to meet deadlines, there are apparently other sources claiming Stobart withdrew because they didn't want to lose their own brand. I don't know whether a CityJet takeover would have meant the end of the Aer Lingus Regional and Flybe franchises.

Thats intersting.By brand do they mean customer recognition? Obviously very well known as a road haulier but can they successfully transfer the brand to the airline business?
As someone with experience of the road haulage industry i am aware the industry is not held in high esteem by the general public.

Only a small increase but Cork goes 14 weekly (2x daily every day) and Shannon goes up to daily (Sat flight added).

Hi Ray every little helps 🙂 Saturday and the weekend generally seems to have been bolstered of late. Saturday was always significantly quieter at BHX it certainly seems busier than in the past.

Presumably the increases are driven by demand.Wouldn't it be nice to see som CAA stats to confirm this.

Aer Lingus has unveiled what it says is its largest ever winter schedule, including 350 extra transatlantic flights. In total, 300,000 additional seats are being added - 194,000 of which will be rolled out across short-haul services on European routes.

Long-haul:
* 350 more transatlantic flights for Winter 2017
* 13% increase in transtlantic capacity compared to 2016 (106,000)
* New Airbus A330-300 in operation for full winter season
* 12 flights per week to US West Coast

Short-haul:
* 194,000 more seats to Europe
* New winter route to Bilbao
* 47,000 extra seats to key European cities of Hamburg, Bordeaux and Zurich
* Additional 50,000 seats to Birmingham
* Additional 56,000 seats on new peak morning flight from Dublin to London
