So serious question, Dose anyone know why KLM City Hopper are still operating the own aircraft on both the evening & night stopping AMS-LBA rotations?

As far as I understood the whole LBA-AMS service was due to fully switched back to Eastern Airways operation last Sunday evening. Which begs the next question what are the LBA based Eastern Flight & Cabin crew doing in the meantime?

There are currently 4x lines of work for the Eastern aircraft to operate on behalf of KLM.
The schedule each day is as follows (with slight variations at the weekend):

Aircraft 1: LBA-AMS-NWI-AMS-MAN-AMS-LBA-AMS-LBA
Aircraft 2: BRS-AMS-LBA-AMS-BRS-AMS-BRS-AMS-BRS
Aircraft 3: MME-AMS-MME-AMS-NCL-AMS-NWI-AMS-MME
Aircraft 4: HUY-AMS-HUY-AMS-GLA-AMS-HUY-AMS-HUY

Below, I've expanded the above list for each aircraft and highlighted LBA:

Given there are multiple aircraft on the ground in AMS each day, there are regular aircraft swaps, so you might find the aircraft that starts the day in MME ends up in HUY for example.

As can be seen above, the mid-morning LBA departure each day is operated by a BRS based aircraft on a "W-Pattern".

It seems Eastern is down to 3x E190s as one aircraft is in planned maintenance. This means the schedule for 'Aircraft 1' is being operated by KLM whilst Eastern still operate the schedule for Aircraft 2,3 & 4. I'm sure the LBA crew have been redeployed where needed around the other Eastern bases.

Yes, according to FR, E190 G-CLYU is currently on the ground at HUY and hasn’t flown since 28 June. On a positive note it’s a good sign that KLM are stepping in to fill the gaps as necessary to fulfill the published schedules at LBA.

When I've been on the KLCH, the late afternoon arrival crew get off and are at the taxi stand when the Pax come through arrivals and swap with another KL Crew so they can be fresh for the early morning flight so KL could have 2 crews staying in Leeds at any one time, 1 from the afternoon arrival and 1 from the late arrival so for max efficiency KLCH need to operate the 2x rotations they are currently back on - the E2 brings the logistics of a 3rd Cabin Crew on stopover!

Maybe they got wind easyJet could be jumping on it (I have no idea myself! jsut hope!)

KLM doesn't usually show who's operating the flights on their schedules until nearer the time. Currently, at end of October, there's no flights scheduled from any airport using Eastern or German Airways, which seems unlikely!

well they should since you are supposed to tell folks when buying, and if there is a change later on you are supposed to inform booked passengers with an option to rebook if they do not wish to fly with the new operator. this is all a legal obligation.

Does Jet2 tell passengers that their flight is to be operated by another company if I was to book a S26 holiday today? No. However they will tell me when their schedules update nearer the time.
In early January this year, there was no sign of Eastern operating the LBA-AMS route from April, however that changed at the end of January when the schedules were updated.
Based on that, we might be waiting until the end of August to see the concrete plans for KLM at LBA for the winter season.

I think what Severn is saying is that they don’t have to let you know if they haven’t ‘planned’ it.. I’m booked on a Jet2 holiday but my flight is on a wet lease aircraft. At no point during booking was I informed that it would not be on a Jet2 aircraft, I only knew it was because I’ve got the ability to look at the ops system. It only told me later via the app when the online check in facility opened that I would be on a jet2 flight operated by x airline.

Bending the rules? Perhaps, but I’m 99.9% certain Eastern will be operating at least some of the route in winter25/6 LBA-AMS. KLM might not have ‘planned’ that yet, but that’s how it is.

All I will say is I hope T3 are not going to be operating all four rotations. Yes it's still several months away for them to get their house in order but T3 don't seem to be able to consistently operate the current 3 rotations, never mind 4

Interesting. That must mean the Eastern Airways base isn’t returning anytime soon and KLM City Hopper are here to stay for a while.

Look I am not laying blame here, but its starting to look like Eastern Airways has bitten off more than it could chew with taking over the KLM operations at Leeds and have now taken a step back.

According to the app on the day I'm due to fly KLM Cityhopper will operate the 06.20 departure and 17.25 with Eastern Airways operating the 10.05 and it looks like that for that week.

Yeap that's how the Amsterdam-Leeds route has been operating for past 3 weeks now.

KLM City Hopper are operating both the evening/tea time & night-stooping rotations whilst the Bristol based Eastern continues to operate the mid-morning rotation.
