Hi all

I attended the travel show yesterday at Event City. I was at the Oman Air stand talking to a staff member.

I said the Manchester route is doing really well, he agreed and said from sometime this year on two days a week there will be two flights a day. All very encouraging I must say.

Oman has also sent large numbers of domestic Transfer pax through I where I work in recent weeks, upwards of 40-50 on certain days.

Oman looks a very nice place to visit judging by their brouchures.

Cheers from Sergeant Bilko.

Interesting comment from the Oman Air rep. Bilko. My impression was the loads have been fine without being exceptional, but they must be pleased with loads, freight and yields if they are proposing to move to 9 x weekly. I assume whatever days an extra 2 flights operate, they would fit in with a wave of departures from Muscat for transfers from the MAN arrival, and likewise with arrivals for transfers to the MAN flight.

ps. Hope to go to the Travel Show myself tomorrow.

It would be nice to see Birmingham Muscat flight; TUI have this routed sector from Birmingham but Oman Air would do extremely well from Birmingham.

HNA group still have undelivered aircraft in Toulouse and these are being sold to a different customer supposedly...so sounds like it’s true.

HNA are NOT going bust ! however the CAAC are using the current internal Coronavirus issues as a smoke screen for another round of consolidation.

That said the entire Chinese aviation industry is a ponzI scheme at best and the conflicts between central government dictates, regional authorities obligations to meet the planned economical growth targets has piled eye watering levels of subsidies and a massive debt on the aviation industry not just some of the shell HNA companies.

It’s the likes of Tianjin, Capital, Grand China and Lucky that will disappear rather than the core carrier .

That said Hainan’s Beijing base looks as if the powers that be are to be wrap it back into Air China and the rump operations returned to its core role as a regional and tour operator only.

Air China absolutely hate any competition out of Capital and with Daxing coming On line with China Southern the masters at the CAAC clearly think Hainan as served it usefulness in the Beijing market I suppose.

This could be a bonus for Manchester if Air China follow through with their intention to pick up all of the operational Hainan Beijing Capital Long Haul services imho

Caveat we all have to understand the Hainan service is primarily a box mover with the organic blobs made up of CAISSA tourists and they simply can not travel at the moment period stop .

Indeed its actually been quite difficult for many Chinese to get travel visas and new government approvals for the best part of year now.

Again HNA the parent are not going bust least not in the way British companies have - Don’t expect a PWC to walk in the door ground the carrier at a minutes notice strand thousands round the world whilst then starting collect mountains of money for themselves from both creditors, and shareholders pockets.

More evidence that the Chinese aviation industry it not all it seems

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
