If I remember correctly Newcastle lost its Brussels route which was operated by Brussels Airlines at about the same time bmi regional axed the Leeds - Brussels route earlier this year.

Newcastle-Brussels and Bristol-Brussels were operated by bmi regional for a couple of years on behalf of Brussels Airlines (that used to operate these routes with its own aircraft immediately prior to that), giving Star Alliance connectivity at BRU as bmi regional was then of course part of the LH Group.

Last winter Flybe (with DH-8-400s) took over these routes on behalf of Brussels Airlines when bmi regional became an independent airline.

At the end of the winter the NCL-BRU service was axed but the BRS-BRU service remains at 3 x daily with the SN-liveried Flybe aircraft (based at BRS) still providing connections to Star Alliance at BRU.

Unless bmi regional can come up with some form of code share the NCL-BRU will be point to point as the bmi regional European routes are currently from BRS and BHX, with the result that monthly load factors are usually not much above 50%, sometimes not even that.

Hence the reason bmi regional pulled the 2x daily Leeds/Bradford - Brussels route in May this year. Falling pax numbers due to having no interling connections available due to lack of codeshare with either Brussels Airlines or the Star Alliance Group member airlines.

bmi regional has hinted on several occasions in the past few months that it's on the way to a form of code share or other linkage with a larger airline or airlines but there's been nothing concrete to announce.

Without it I fear the airline will find it difficult to progress even with its non-scheduled earners such as summer charters for tour companies like Inghams and Corsican Places, it's vibrant weekend football and rugby charter market and its Airbus corporate shuttle work.

bmi Regional starting late-May 2016 launches new service between UK and Norway, as it plans nonstopNewcastle – Stavanger operation. From 31MAY16, the airline operates this route 6 times a week, on board Embraer ERJ135 aircraft.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
