Swiss have stated in the media yesterday that they are likely o resume a direct Manchester-Geneva flight next winter to 'fight back against easyjet'.

While no details have been confirmed, I would not be surprised if the flight mirrored the schedule they used to run, LX365/366 Avro100 flight that ran on Saturdays and Sundays.

Prompted by the BHX flight upgrades, a look on the website shows plenty of A321 flights over the festive period.

Swiss will swap the the new Bombardier C-Series from July 2016. This will be one of the first European routes for this new aircraft.

Now confirmed that the first CS100 flight will be 16th July on the LX390/391 flight.

Seems sporadic use to begin with, but then seems to revert to daily ops from 1st August on the morning flight.

Surprised it hasn't been noted that the C series first flight to MAN occurred this week.

The Swiss CS100 left ZRH on Monday morning, but over France returned back to ZRH. Then was replaced by an A320. Iv'e just had a look and HB-JBA started flying again yesterday so the tech issues must be sorted out.

Swiss will operate the 319/320 this summer, replacing CS100 on most flights with just sporadic operation. No Helvetics will be operating, as they did last summer which is welcome.

Nice to see an increase from a fairly uneventful carrier.

I remember from my earlier days in travel when the DC-9 was used and if, as was quite often the case loads were high, the Swissair local office in the Royal Exchange arcade would request and often get an A310 for the service.

Finally there was one day when Heathrow was badly fogged for over a day and we got a B747 on the then single overnighting flight. Those were the days.

For quite a while the programmed regular type on the Swissair night-stopping service [SWR842/3] was the A310. A daily scheduled widebody to a European hub. Many travellers used this route for onward connections to Asia back then, in the days before the MEB3 and assorted Asian carriers discovered Manchester.

Reckon it was 1987 for the Friday to Sunday nightstopping A310s with it being daily from 1991? Advertising was along the lines of "Swissair. How very civilised".

And what a gentleman he was. I well remember all of the staff who worked within their Royal Exchange office - a wonderful team.

He certainly was a gentleman. I had a good number of lunches with him and went on a trip to Zurich to promote Manchester for business which he arranged for me. Got around the Swissair engineering base and hangars as well!!

Swiss to use the CS300 from 25th Nov on various flights.

seems to be mostly weekends at the moment with either sat and/or Sunday flights seeing it. There are lots of other dates but there doesn't seem to be any pattern to its use.

Summer 2019 see an increase from 12 to 14 flights per week.

I must admit I had not appreciated that they were no longer double daily.

I witnessed pretty inconsiderate behaviour on yesterday afternoons ZRH-MAN Swiss service, when a passenger would not wear a mask, he was sat in the row in front of me. All other passenger were as far as I could tell wearing masks, announcements were made several times as this was a mandatory requirement and yet this character felt he didn't need to.

Being the row in front of me, I pointed this out to a member of the crew as it made me feel uncomfortable. It resulted in the head steward coming down the cabin to deal with the situation. The passenger was saying he was exempt, however the crew pointed out to be exempt he must produce evidence of a negative test no more than 24 hours prior to the flight, he could not.

He was offered two options to sit at the back away from passengers, or the plane would return to Zurich and he would be offloaded. The Steward was very professional dealing with this guy who was argumentative throughout. Luckily the plane was only a quarter full so they could stick him out of the way !

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
