I have them here, 76% from the Humber region, 16% Lincolnshire and 7% South Yorkshire....

I have a bad feeling that, considering the pax figures are falling, they will pull the HUY and centre flights at DSA, forcing the regular users to travel further for their flights.

I hope that if thats the case, the people that matter will make their voices heard so that another operator can be found.

Hi

By all acounts it has now been comfirmed that it is defintley KLM that are going into DSA from March 2010 with a 3 times daily Fokker service.

I can also comfim that the HUY service will still be operated 4 times daily next summer along with LBA on a 3 times daily service. Some good news all around for Yorksire's Airports.

The local news paper in Doncaster is now also reporting that an un-named "Major Airline" is to announce a new base at DSA tomorrow and offer 21 weekly departures.

Just noticed, the drop down on that website also shows EMA, NQY and INV.... As this is where the 'solid evidence' is from, could it mean people are jumping the gun?

Travelmole said that Tourism officials will benefit, said nothing about business officials. Perhaps it realy is Easyjet with the 'w' patterns from LPL afterall!!!

[textarea]Yorkshire airport in bid to bring new flights to Malta

A number of new flights to Malta from the north of England could be introduced in time for the next summer season as Doncaster Robin Hood Airport works to enhance links to the holiday island.

Heading to Malta to take part in the ABTA Travel Convention, a delegation from the South Yorkshire airport is to meet with a number of tour operators and assess the feasibility of introducing new summer flights.

It is hoped that, should this go ahead, it will further establish Doncaster Airport as an emerging hub for links to Europe and elsewhere in the UK and will help to make up for easyJet's recent decision to pull out, thereby bringing an end to direct flights to Amsterdam, Barcelona and Prague, among other destinations.

Speaking as he headed off to Malta for the industry event, the airport's aviation sales director Nick Smillie said: 'This will be a great opportunity for us to talk to both incumbent operators and future prospects and develop relationships which will help us to grow the offering at Robin Hood Airport.'

Low-cost airline easyJet is to start offering flights from nearby Leeds-Bradford Airport to Geneva from the middle of December until the end of April 2011.

Hi blackbeard, welcome to Forums4airports.

No, Peel also own Liverpool John Lennon Airport - or it would probably be more correct to say they are majority share holders since I think they sold almost half their shares to Vancouver Airports if I am not mistaken. You will find that Peel are very good at spin - as are most airports to be fair - so a delegation can be just a couple of marketing staff and the boss! The fact that Ryanair are operating scheduled services to Malta from LBA will not help their case for flights from DSA, other than any package tour flights that TOM might put on.

It's a confusing one: Peel AIRPORTS fully own DSA and LPL, and part of Durham MME. Peel GROUP sold about 60% of their stake in AIRPORTS to Vancouver Airports. So Peel Group owns 40% ish of Peel Airports, with Vancouver owning the rest.

You are right Ryan - it is confusing and I am certainly confused by that. Anyway, thanks for clarifying it. I do know that Peel also own the Trafford Centre at Salford and apparently are involved in the Manchester Ship Canal too, so they are into all sorts apart from their airport interests.

Whiteheather, the company you are refering to is the Holding company. They now only own a minority share in their Airports group. The Airport group when wholly owned by Peel Holdings was a perennial loss maker, i believe it has yet to change under the majority ownership of VAS.

A few weeks ago when easyjet departed DSA for the final time the airport MD said that talks were taking place with another airline to reestablish some of the routes. Has there been any rumours about who the airport is in talks with?

New airline to launch Robin Hood to Amsterdam flights

A new airline is set to trial a new service between Doncaster Sheffield Airport and Amsterdam.

Using a Jetstream 32, 19-seat aircraft, HiAir will launch their new flights on 5 September 2011, aiming to deliver a business class service with an economy price tag.

Ben King, co-director of HiAir Ltd said: “We bring fresh ideas and energy to the industry and seek to awaken the glamour previously associated with aviation through our ambition to deliver outstanding levels of customer service. Such personal service can only be achieved by utilising rich local airports such as Robin Hood which provides a blissful foundation for us to trial our niche concept. “

HiAir will also be offering a concierge programme and executive travel options both to and from the airport for professionals with chauffeured cars and helicopter transfers.
