Good figures for July and August now available with July being 385021 and August 401742. Lufthansa new route has been doing well with load factors climbed to 75 % in August. 31 of the routes available achieved over 90% LF

I thought Dublin had jumped ahead as the top destination, but just noticed Belfast City is in top 25, so Belfast is still above Dublin. Healthy figures either way.

Finally the CAA data for October

Just for @Silvercity I have been keeping a note of the numbers on both the Lufthansa & Play flights and the load factors for October appear to have been as follows:

Frankfurt
Seats Available - 2,900
Passengers - 1,753
Load Factor - 60.45%

Keflavik
Seats Available - 2,784
Passengers - 1,863
Load Factor - 66.92%

Pretty poor load factors on the two prime route really then 😉 Well below the ideal plus 70%

Through admittedly we don’t know the fare bundle mix.

Good to see Lufthansa going near daily through and I suspect connections ( yes you Greenfinch) are paramount to the success of this service

The Play figures however are less the stellar especially for a flexible fares carrier and marketing and reliant on onward connections further west .

Surely for the couple of flights a week and at the highly competitive fare levels they need that load factor consistently above 90º

What you need to remember @rutamkrd is a high load factor does not necessarily translate as a good yield. It's a common misconception people often make. Equally the same can be said for a relatively low load factor, it doesn't mean a route is necessarily underperforming.

Both are true Lufthansa can carry loads around and above 70 % depending on the fare bundle . Potentially even lower if every premium seat and last minute full economy fare are sold.

The alliance carriers through Heathrow average loads I believe at 65-70% however the heavy mix of premium and full economy ticket bundles work to support some very high frequencies yet relatively low occupancy at the same time.

And also benefits those seeking very competitive (sometimes below cost) economy fares through the consolidators .

Some of this can be said to be anticompetitive to the small players ( sort of Pun) and regional service opportunities.
One of the UK airports in particular that suffers from dynamic this is certainly Birmingham.

Not so for the likes of Play, their business model needs considerably more occupation indeed I refer you to the earlier post from the company CEO .

A carrier like Play will need consistent loads north of 90% and what was interesting from the same CEO interview was a concern that the although their business is predicated on a transfer (mini hub and spoke) it appears their current pricing structure and recovery margins prefer O&D . Does that suggest a weakness in their traffic and fare management software - Possibly however thats conjecture at this point.

We also need to bear in mind, the route has only just started. Play has stated they want to add schedules but presently do not have the capacity, this suggests Play are happy with the way things are going..indeed yesterdays service had it not been cancelled due to weather at KEF , was upgraded to an A321neo

In isolation the loads remain sub optimal for the business model ,are they increasing apparently so I will give you that from your comments re loads at 74 percentage points

Though as a business wide there remain some Amber signals especially when the CEO said what he said and reported above

There are fundamentally and potentially structural issues with Play from what I can see and not dissimilar to their previous incarnation.

Yes I understand Keflavik was snow closed yesterday must have been a big one as the airport performs a very important trans Atlantic safety and military role

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
