Destinations that are either new (no passengers since my records started in January 2005), or have not been served for a number of years - if the latter then the month and year of the last service is shown.

Rostov - 133 passengers. This was, I believe, a 'one-off' for football charter.

Re Part 5: It is interesting to see how these numbers have changed over the years. The drop to LHR and LGW (around 75k) is well documented. Big drops also to ORD, EWR and JFK.

AMS and DXB have increased significantly. DXB is taken as a given - together with QR and EY they have redrawn the map of aviation headed east - but AMS increase of around 37k is impressive. Do we know if it is connections driven, or O&D driven?

The late Easter break saw Manchester Airport celebrate its busiest April on record with millions of people jetting off to catch some sun.

The UK’s third largest airport saw passenger numbers rise by 17% in April as more than 2.25m people headed away from the UK. With Easter falling in the middle of April this year, families from across the North took advantage of the holidays to get away.

Despite the rise the biggest spike in travellers didn’t come during the Easter Bank Holiday weekend with more than 84,000 passengers taking to the skies on Friday 7th April as the airport saw its busiest day of the year so far.

The most popular destinations for passengers over Easter were Amsterdam, Dubai and Dublin as well as Spanish holiday favourites of Tenerife, Alicante and Malaga.

The current growth makes Manchester the second fastest growing large airport in Europe.

April also saw businesses and organisations welcoming the news that connections to China would be further strengthened with the news that Cathay Pacific will be offering daily flights to Hong Kong from December and that Hainan Airlines would also be offering daily flights to Beijing for summer.

Collette Roche, Interim Managing Director of Manchester Airport, said: “The Easter period is always one of the busiest times of the year for the airport and it’s pleasing to see us sustain the continuous growth that we have seen over the last few years.

“April also saw two significant announcements for the North of England with the news that our two services to China would both be going daily. We know that our flights to Beijing and Hong Kong have proved vital to business and leisure passengers across the North and the fact that both services will now be daily is testament to the demand for direct flights to China from across our catchment area.”

Due to the extra demand aircraft movements were also up last month by 10%, with more than 16,000 planes taking off and landing on the airport’s two full length runways.

Cargo also saw a boost with 9,338 tonnes carried - an increase of 2% on April 2016. It equates to a 12% year on year increase with the annual rolling tonnage now at 116,521.

I believe that's with regards to a certain size of airport (e.g. 20mppa - 40mppa) - 17% growth at a large hub like LHR, CDG, AMS, etc equates to a much larger increase in passenger numbers than comparatively smaller airports, hence they are grouped for fairer comparison.

Agreed - 17% is obviously inflated due to a combination of new routes and late Easter. I'll be interested to see the breakdown of this between new routes, increases on existing routes and the split between short and long haul.

The CAA have released figures for some airports for April, however Manchester is not yet included.

Had a look on the US version of Expedia, which allows you to preview availability. Checked some long-haul ex-MAN for this week (for some reason certain classes on certain flights weren't available on Expedia):
Singapore: 6 seats available in economy, 4 in Premium Economy, 9 out of 42 available in Business (Monday - A350-900)
Houston: 28 seats available in economy (Tuesday - A350-900)
JFK (AA): 3 seats available in economy (Tuesday - B767-300)
Chicago: 4 seats available in economy, 12 seats available in Business (Monday - B767-300)
Philadelphia: 4 seats available in economy, 7 seats available in Business out of 20 (Monday - A330-200)
Newark: 1 seat available in economy (Monday - Boeing 757-200) A bigger aircraft needed methinks! 😉

As a general observation EWR, ORD, PHL and JFK are looking very good - there will still be more to check-in as well, so whilst I know it is half-term week, they are doing quite well by the looks of it. Singapore is picking up quite dramatically, and again, I know it is only one flight, but the occupancy on that flight must be 233/252, so very good! Houston also looks to be picking up so SQ may be improving.

BOS, SFO, MIA, MCO, ATL etc. are not available to view. Had a quick look at MCT and didn't look great, next available date for HKG was Thursday so will have a look closer to. PEK was also not available to view.

Interesting to see the W17 capacity declaration and some figures.

T3 now matches T1 for expected capacity (but T3 just half the size, seems they will be pushing that terminal to the max).

Also interesting to see that for a predominantly outbound market, they are expecting/planning for 100% loads inbound but only 80-90% outbound.

A very interesting time for the market to become inbound...

The sooner the full service carriers can be moved out of T3 and into T2 the better. It wont make a huge difference, but take them together and BA, AA, KLM, AF are around 20 flights per day, so this might clear out some space for Ryanair to take over.

The updated note for April on the CAA stats shows this:

"As of 6 June 2017, the following airports are not yet available for reporting and are therefore excluded: Belfast City (George Best), Bristol, Doncaster Sheffield, Inverness and Southend. The next scheduled refresh of airport publications will be 16 June 2017".

MAN not mentioned and yet the reports I've looked at still don't include MAN.

SFO had 4288 passengers. 13 deparutues, 12 arrivals means an average load of 171 pax
IAH had 5260 passengers. Reckon it's 119 average. SIN 7688 passengers or 174 average
Casablanca 2950 passengers for 113 average

Please can someone give me the magic link. For some reason, all I get is the initial report on the 19 May for April which doesn't include MAN. I've tried different browsers in case that makes a difference and tried March and altering the '3' to a '4' without luck.

Ah, eureka! Got it on my lap top which is Windows 10 but with the same browser as the pc which is Vista. Should that make a difference?
