My take on the long-haul load-factors for September - remember that certain flights, for example Addis Ababa have a split load between Manchester and an intermediate stop-over point (GVA). This means that the 54.48% load is very good if Manchester was allocated half of the aircraft. This also applies to Houston where there are some passengers travelling from Singapore to Houston & vice-versa.

Another report that I have been remiss in not providing is this monthly one showing the top 25 routes by passenger numbers and also by percentage increase over the previous year.

The report covers September. Also of interest, but not in the top 25 for percentage increases are:

Hong Kong - plus 32.58%
Singapore - plus 26.80%
New York (JFK) - plus 24.10%
Jeddah - plus 20.10%
Houston - plus 19.38%

Slight tangent to this thread but this gives a nice overview of the airport's breakdown by region and airport https://airserviceone.com/mancheste...usiest-airport-ryanair-top-airline-this-year/

The standout is that North American available seat numbers is 700,000 less than the previous lowest (the charts in the link show available seat departure so have doubled the numbers). You don't realise the how big that market was in 2004!

As most of you are probably aware I keep, wherever possible, a daily log of Manchester movements.

The MAG December 2022 report showed 11,762 movements. My records show 13,335 (based on those logs) for December 2023. That is a 13.37% increase.

2m pax in December 2023 is the first time MAN have got over the 2m mark (previous best was 1,968,052 in 2019).

It would be good Ian but requires an increase over 2023 of approx. 6.6% I reckon. From what we can glean so far, I'm not sure that's achievable. But it would be nice to be proved wrong.

although there appears to be a smaller increase planned per the ACL reports for summer. than what is needed, there are ways to make it more achievable.. Just getting some routes to have 2% or 3% more passengers where there's no frequency increase would help. Then we have those routes that had a boost in frequency, capacity increase or started last summer that are maintained this winter which means that up to 5 months of "net gain",

We also have the bonus of the leap day which may see numbers boosted by 60,000 passengers so reducing the required increase to "only" 6.2% or 6.3%.

In 2024, we will see Jet2 induct A321neos on a large scale which offer an extra 30 seats per flight - we will also see more 737 MAX 8-200 from Ryanair which give an extra eleven per flight over the 737-800. Further changes would also include 3x Emirates A380 all year, this summer 1 of 3 was operated by 777. Emirates themselves do actually account for 2-3% of MAN's entire figures, last time I checked !

Little changes in aircraft like this are what will push us over 30 million. I'm confident of it.

There will only be 2 A330 this summer - however Jet2 will be basing a further two B738 to cover that.

757s are being replaced almost one for one in seats by the A321neo.

However, we must also count winter figures too - they are keeping one A330 in W23 and plan to do so in W24
