How times have (not) changed. In May 2022 the largest carriers, by percentage of movements, were:
easyJet - 20.31%
Jet2 - 12.99%
Ryanair - 24.05%
Tui 9.68%

So far in May 2024 the share is:
easyJet - 20.89%
Jet2 - 11.99%
Ryanair 24.41%
Tui - 7.78%

Great to finally see T&T Pax MAT back north of 29M at 29,021,091

The equivalent record number to beat is 29,510,599 noted at the end of September 2019.

489,508 to go. Feels eminently achievable now.

Okay everybody, we are now back to the top 25 routes by numbers and percentage increase for March 2024 - the monthly statistics were in post #1,180. My monthly report with load-factors for March will be produced tomorrow (Sunday).

As promised here is my take on the load-factors for selected routes. Please remember that Addis Ababa and Houston are routes where 2nd airports share the aircraft (Geneva & Singapore respectively) and therefore the load-factors shown are possibly only half of the potential figures - if that makes sense.

A little time filler whilst the weather is in-climate:

Top performing airlines at Manchester by movements, and percentage share:

Ryanair - 4,342 - 24.00%
easyJet - 3,763 - 20.80%
Jet2 - 2,312 - 12.78%
TUI - 1,576 - 8.71%
Total Movements, all carriers - 18,089

That post really underlines the importance of those four based short-haul* fleets to MAN's operation. Between them, they represent 66.29% of all ATM's through the airport. Basically, two-thirds of all MAN passenger flights depend on these four names.

Expansion by other operators is always appreciated and welcomed, but if we really want to understand the trajectory of the airport's prospects, the key is to track the ambitions and plans of these four based carriers. And MAG must do their utmost to ensure that their future expansion plans are not inhibited by terminal capacity or lack of parking stands.

* TUI includes an element of long-haul.

The latest CAA data is for April, so is not the size of UK airports as of 30/04/24 rather than 30/06/24? Also, is the total for Edinburgh not a record figure? Previous record figure was 14,768,010 for the year to end September 2019.

Sorry as at 30.04.24 and yes sorry EDI is best ever 0.1% better not 0.1% below !

The CAA data is now available for April and I have now finished my calculation of the load-factors for specific routes. Dusseldorf appears, for some unknown reason, to have taken a nose-dive whilst Madrid had numerous charter/provate flights due to a certain football match.

Anyway, here you are:

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
